Consulates in Argentina operational bases for Bolivian electoral fraud
Bolivian consulates throughout Argentina were used by the Evo Morales government to promote fraud in the October 20 elections, according to the report on the case by the Organization of American States (OAS), Foreign Minister Karen Longaric announced. She added consul Ademar Valda led the operation.
“It is truly shocking all the information we are collecting from the officials who were appointed by the previous Government,” she explained.
The OAS report states that failures were detected in 38.07 percent of the minutes analyzed from Argentina.
“An electoral registry was made which exceeds the number of those legally registered in the electoral register, (…) and it is not a conclusion to which the consuls we have sent have arrived, but [it stems from] testimony from the officials instead,“ Longaric went on.
”They have recognized that they were pressured by the ex-consul Valda (Ademar), who was the operator of the entire electoral fraud,” she elaborated.
Of a sample of 176 minutes scrutinized in Argentina, 38.07 percent showed inconsistencies with the number of citizens, that is, the minutes reflect a greater number of votes than the total number of voters on the index lists.
The situation in Bolivia’s consulates in Argentina is gradually getting back to normal, Longaric stated. Harassment from officials appointed by the Movement Towards Socialism and Argentine picket groups has dropped, she revealed.
Longaric also underlined the importance of guaranteeing the interests of Bolivian nationals who reside in Argentina and who usually require additional paperwork from the consulates during the end-of-year season.
