On the day of his capture there was a confrontation in which the Coordinador of the National Guard in the State was killed.

Three former police officers arrested on the day of the murder of José Silvestre Urzúa Padilla, coordinator of the state National Guard, were charged with the crime of aggravated kidnapping.

The FGE detailed in a press release that on November 24, after carrying out three simultaneous search warrants, one in the municipality of Zacatecas and two in the municipality of Pinos, Arturo “N”, Emmanuel “N” and Tomás “N” were arrested in the facilities of the Public Security Department of that municipality.

The prosecutor’s office emphasized that the evidence presented against the police officers and the seriousness of the crime was sufficient for the control judge to sentence them to trial and to remand them in custody at the Regional Center for Social Readaptation in Cieneguillas.

On November 24, Attorney General José Murillo Ruiseco reported that an operation was deployed to arrest the police officers, which led to an armed confrontation in which General José Silvestre Urzúa Padilla was killed.

In a video released by Governor David Monreal, the prosecutor explained that the security elements that carried out the operation were attacked, General Urzúa Padilla was wounded and later transferred to the hospital in Pinos, where his death was certified.
