Polish President Andrzej Duda has signed the Mega Act, a legal amendment to support the development of telecom services and networks, reports Rpkom.pl. The legal document was signed on 06 September. It will go into effect 30 days after its publishing.
The amendment was approved by the government in May. It was approved by Parliament a month ago and returned by the Senate for deliberation after that.
The Senate introduced minor changes to the act. One of these introduced larger compensations for the release of frequencies in the 700 MHz band for providers of terrestrial TV services. Up to 80 percent of payments for frequencies in the 470-694 MHz band could be offered to them.
The launch of the Broadband Fund, worth PLN 140 million per year, was introduced by the law. The fund will co-finance the expansion of telecom networks.
