“Sol Prendido” for Borderland Beat
A series of armed confrontations took place in the town of Luis B. Sanchez, due to an ambush carried out by “Los Chapitos” hired killers against “El Ruso’s” criminal group.
The two sides of the Sinaloa cartel have been engaged in an internal struggle since 2019 and this Saturday morning, December 3, another episode was forged when approximately 20 pickup trucks full of hired killers, some of them armored, engaged in a shootout in the vicinity of secondary school 14 in the town located on the border of San Luis Río Colorado and the Mexicali Valley.
According to security sources, hired killers from “La Chapiza” attempted to ambush a security group belonging to Jesus Alexander Sanchez Felix, alias “El Ruso”, but in the confrontation, they were driven back due to the response of the criminal structure predominant in the Mexicali valley.
“La Chapiza” had to return to San Luis Río Colorado and the Gulf of Santa Clara due to the aggression.
The criminal deployment extended over several streets and basically concentrated in three points where they fired rounds.
Large caliber gun casings could be observed throughout the area.
According to official information from the San Luis Río Colorado Municipal Police, three people were killed, six others were wounded (who were left at the Santa Clara Gulf Fire Station) and a total of eleven cars were abandoned.
The three bodies were left in various locations, all in residential areas or busy roads.
In fact, some videos made public on social networks show the arrival of pickup trucks with armed men and later the moment of the gunshots that lasted for a long time.
Elements of the Baja California State Citizen Security Force initiated a parallel operation at kilometer 43, but all the conflict was generated in Sonora.
It has been rumored that the hired assassins extended their confrontations to the Gulf of Santa Clara, but this has not been confirmed.
