The political battle over Chicago continues to heat up as both sides heat up the rhetoric—but only one side, Trump’s, seems interested in ending the violence epidemic, while the far-left team, quarterbacked by Illinois Gov. JB Pritzker and Windy City Mayor Brandon Johnson, seems just fine with the carnage in their city. Evidently, they see no problem with allowing it to continue.

As the National Guard arrives in the city at the behest of the president, Johnson has created supposed “ICE-Free Zones,” while the state of Illinois and the Chicago mayor sued the federal government to stop the deployment of troops. (That case is pending, with a hearing scheduled Thursday.)
The back and forth is getting harsh. Both Johnson and Pritzker should be sitting in jail cells, the president posted to social media Wednesday:

Prior to Trump’s post, Pritzker channeled his inner Gavin Newsom and tried to sound tough and funny at the same time, and like the California governor, he failed spectacularly. The problem? The facts are just not on his side.
‘This is a man who’s suffering dementia,’ Pritzker told the Chicago Tribune. ‘This is a man who has something stuck in his head. He can’t get it out of his head.’
The Trump administration says that violent Antifa rioters are putting ICE agents at risk as they arrest illegal immigrants. The White House has also cited the staggering homicide rate in the Windy City — seven killed and 26 wounded at the weekend.
Illinois and Chicago have sued the administration to block them from sending troops.
Pritzker added: ‘[Trump] doesn’t read. He doesn’t know anything that’s up to date. It’s just something in the recesses of his brain that is effectuating to have him call out these cities.
‘And then, unfortunately, he has the power of the military, the power of the federal government to do his bidding, and that’s what he’s doing.’

Trump and Pritzker have been at war for months, with the governor repeatedly saying the status quo is just fine while Trump points out that this is not how things should be. How is that status quo working out for the citizens, JB?

“Progressive” governors and politicians in blue states keep missing one salient fact: if they’d been doing their jobs in the first place, none of this would be necessary, and they wouldn’t need to be bellyaching on every leftist news outlet that will have them.
Stop the locker room talk and do what you’re paid to do, Newsom, Pritzker et. al: protect your own citizens.
