During the night of December 30, a criminal cell of armed men stopped a bus on its way to the city of Matamoros and forced the 36 passengers on board to disembark.
The events, which the Tamaulipas Security Ministry described as an “incident”, occurred on the Matamoros – Reynosa highway shortly after ten o’clock at night, according to official reports.
Preliminarily, it was reported that bus number 9570 of Grupo Senda left the city of Reynosa and halfway was intercepted by the group of possible hired assassins.
Authorities acknowledged that the 36 people traveling on the bus were forced to get off the bus by threats, but did not reveal whether they had been abducted or share any other details about their whereabouts.
According to the official narrative, the bus driver reported the events. Elements of the Mexican Army, the National Guard and the State Guard went to the scene and escorted the bus to the Matamoros headquarters.

It is reported that the Grupo Senda bus No. 9570 with 36 passengers on board were stopped by armed subjects and forced to get off the bus.
The unit had left Reynosa bound for Matamoros. Everything that transpired was reported by the bus driver.
Military personnel, National Guard and State Guard responded to the call to conduct the corresponding investigations and escort the unit to the Matamoros headquarters.
