On Monday afternoon, two brothers, one aged five and the other 16, were killed in the Barrio Alto neighborhood in the municipality of Fresnillo, Zacatecas.
After receiving the report through the 911 Emergency System, elements of the Municipal Police and paramedics from the Zacatecas Medical Emergency Network went to the scene, locating a young man with several gunshot wounds in the middle of the street, the paramedics confirmed that he had already died.
Meanwhile, his five-year-old brother, who was wounded in the armed attack, was taken by family members to a private hospital, where he died while receiving medical attention.
Personnel from the State Attorney General’s Office opened the corresponding investigation and transferred the bodies to the Forensic Medical Service for the autopsies.
Fresnillo, with the highest perception of insecurity at national level
At national level, Fresnillo is the city with the highest percentage of population that is considered unsafe to live in, according to the National Survey of Urban Public Safety (ENSU) of Inegi.
Ninety-six percent of the population over 18 years of age in Fresnillo considered it unsafe to live in their city, well above the national average (62.1%).
