This attack bears a resemblance to attacks against tire repair shops, or “vulcanizadoras” in the neighboring state of Guanajuato. In Guanajuato, at least 138 tire repair shops have been violently attacked over the last decade, leaving over 200 dead. These attacks are related to the fight between the CJNG and CSRL, two groups who have infiltrated tire repair shops, installing networks for merchandizing stolen fuel and methamphetamine. Both groups attack each others shops, used as selling spots.
