“Sol Prendido” for Borderland Beat

Brothers Eugenio Esquivel and Sebastián Esquivel, in collaboration with Grupo Marca Registrada, are singing their catchy hit song ‘Alucin’. The paean tells a story of excess and fame. In addition, the music brags about a man’s luxuries including his ability to romance any woman.

For the first 27 seconds or so into this broadcast the cheerful melody beckons us to believe that every gunman is safe within their surroundings. A motivation and confidence is clearly seen on each man’s face. It almost seems so fitting to have this hymn playing in the background, like if it was meant to be sung here for these enthusiastic warriors.

However, once the music ends everything goes horribly south for the young men. Their spin of the roulette wheel suddenly shows them to have been captured by hitmen from the Los Cazadores/Salazar mob.

One of the captive members from the Los Pelones/Deltas mob will leave this world in a raging ball of fire. Before he departs though his captors will pour out the accelerant across his face and body to help him on his way out.
