St George Illawarra winger Zac Lomax will be breathing a sigh of relief after avoiding sanction for a mid-air collision in the Dragons’ win over Wests Tigers.

Attempting to hold onto his spot in the NSW State of Origin side, Lomax wasn’t sanctioned by the NRL’s match review committee after bumping into Tigers winger Solomon Alaimalo while competing for a ball in Friday’s 56-14 win.

Alaimalo was taken off for treatment after falling onto the turf at Wollongong, but Lomax was cleared of any wrongdoing.

This will be welcome news for coach Michael Maguire as the rookie Blues winger will be available for game two in Melbourne on June 26.

The Dragons face Manly next week in Lomax’s final Origin audition.
