They’re neck and neck with the Netherlands for second spot, Germany with a solid lead at the halfway mark of the two-kilometre course.
Then the Netherlands surge to take the lead at the 1500 metres, and Australia finish fourth.
So Australia’s in the final 7:10pm AEST Saturday, with the UK, US, Romania, the Netherlands and Germany for company.
Side Note: J. Christ just rowed that for the Germans. He’s been mentioned on the internet this week for obvious reasons (“Row? Why doesn’t he just walk on the water?!”). His first name is Julius.
