Agents of the State Preventive Police and elements of the Secretariat of the Navy (Semar) clashed with a group of armed civilians, resulting in the death of six alleged criminals.

The confrontation occurred on Tuesday night, but it was not until shortly before 13:00 hours, when the Government of the State of Colima, announced the incident in a statement.

The document states that the officers were on surveillance patrols derived from intelligence information, so when they were passing through the community of Puerta de Ánzar, in the municipality of Colima, they were attacked with bullets.
As their lives were at risk, the elements of the State Police and the Secretariat of the Navy took cover, requested immediate support and, when reinforcements arrived, repelled the aggression.
“The final result of this confrontation was six alleged criminals killed. Personnel from the State Attorney General’s Office (FGE) also attended the scene to carry out the relevant investigations, demonstrating the ongoing fight against organized crime in the region,” said the government headed by Indira Vizcaino.
The state government said that efforts will continue to ensure peace and security in the state.
