Collingwood was all over Fremantle to begin, with Brody Mihocek slotting two lovely majors to set up an early Magpies lead.

However, the Dockers, in search of points to create some breathing space in eighth, rebounded nicely to hit the lead.

Patrick Voss with a hat-trick of first quarter goals.

Magpies searching with seconds remaining in the quarter

By Henry Hanson

A floated sky ball falls just on the edge of the Dockers’ goal square.

Jamie Elliot makes a valiant dive, gets his hands to it but can’t complete the mark.

This will be a first break lead for the Dockers.

Cats winding down the clock

By Chris De Silva

That Bowes goal has taken a bit of the sting out of this game to be truthful.

Geelong holding a comfortable 32-point lead with a little bit over five minutes left on the countdown clock.

Stirring stuff from Fremantle in the second half of this first quarter.

Bowes steadies Cats with a brilliant snap

By Chris De Silva

The sub makes a big impact in the final quarter!

Jack Bowes receives a handball in the pocket and slots one from the boundary without breaking stride.

What a luxury it is to have a player like Bowes coming on as your sub.

Geelong’s lead back to a more comfortable-looking 31 points.

Nick Daicos slotted a goal after some slick handballs and then Patrick Voss got his second of the day to keep Fremantle in touching distance.

Owens misses another gimme

By Chris De Silva

Oh no, Mitch Owens with a horrible miss!

He took a lovely contested mark 20m out from goal, but sprays the set shot from a very slight angle.

Owens has been very hit and miss on the set shots so far today.

The Saints badly needed that one, they need all of them.

Geelong leading by 25 points with 13 minutes left on the clock.

Voss puts Fremantle on the board

By Henry Hanson

It’s a quick reply from the Dockers, who really needed that.

Patrick Voss gets a fortunate bounce and is able to kick one along the turf.

It’s true and well directed and between the big sticks.

Stewart has ice on his left knee after being subbed

By Chris De Silva

All eyes will be on the injury status of Tom Stewart after this game.

He’s still sitting on the back row of the bench and has his left knee iced up.

Stewart doesn’t look too concerned by it all, to be honest.

Cats great Cam Mooney told Fox Sports at three-quarter time that the substitution is likely to be precautionary.

Mihocek gets his second major

By Henry Hanson

Fast hands from Collingwood in the Dockers 50, the ball falls to the ground and Brody Mihocek gets a deft little side foot on one, before receiving it back and slotting it from a tight angle.

That’s two goals to zip for the Magpies.

Wanganeen-Milera’s soccer is saved by the umpire

By Chris De Silva

Nasiah Wanganeen-Milera toe pokes one in via the goal umpire’s knee!

I don’t know why this is a goal review, it was quite clearly going through the big sticks, and sanity eventually prevails.

What a waste of 30 seconds that review was.

The Saints get the all-important first goal of the last quarter to trim the margin to 31 points.

NWM now up to 30 touches and two goals.

Mihocek scores the first major of the day

By Henry Hanson

It’s a really nice finish from the five-time Collingwood leading goal-kicker.

Wide on the right, Brody Mihocek angles his kick in over a few despairing Collingwood hands.

The Magpies are starting to show that trademark pressure as Fremantle are struggling to get out.

Just when it looks like the Dockers are making some ground, Isaac Quaynor makes a wonderful chase and tackle to regain possession for the ‘Pies.

Bit of a scrappy opening four or so minutes at the MCG.

Lachie Shultz marks and attempts a difficult shot from the sideline. It drifts high into the goal square and is padded for a behind.

Geelong takes a 37-point lead into the final change after an excellent third quarter.

After being seriously challenged in the second term by the Saints, the Cats responded like you’d expect a premiership contender to.

The damage could’ve been worse too, with the Cats kicking 5.6 to 2.2 for the quarter.

Geelong has five multiple goalkickers, with Jeremy Cameron’s four leading the way.

It’s not all good news for the Cats though, with Tom Stewart subbed out late in the quarter due to a suspected knee injury.

We’ll update you more when we find out the specifics.

Wanganeen-Milera continues to rack up the footy at will for the Saints. He’s got 29 disposals and seven clearances, while Max Holmes leads Geelong with 27 touches.

In other news, Andy Brayshaw is wearing his brother Angus’ helmet after receiving 10 stitches on that gash he copped last week.

By Chris De Silva

Liam Henry drills a set shot from directly in front 35m out for a much-needed steadier for the Saints.

Geelong’s lead back down to 33 points. The Saints would dearly love a couple more before three-quarter time.

There’s five minutes left in the third term.
