Live: NRL and NRLW scores

It’s another for the Sharks and the damage is telling for the Dogs

By Jon Healy

The Bulldogs’ left side has been obliterated by the concussions for Bronson Xerri and Viliame Kikau, and that’s where the points are coming for the Sharks.

This time Nicho Hynes hits Sione Katoa on the wing and he pops the ball back in to Jess Ramien to dive in for the Sharks’ second.

28′ Kikau again bounces off and finally is subbed off

By Jon Healy

Toby Rudolf takes another charge and again Viliame Kikau comes in and is bumped off awkwardly.

Fox Sports commentator Mick Ennis said before that it was “stunning” he was staying on the field, but at last the Dogs trainers step in and sub him out for a head injury assessment.

The Sharks finally draw first blood

By Jon Healy

It’s taken 25 minutes, but the scorers finally have something to do as Nicho Hynes hits back rower Billy Burns with a short ball and he bursts through a gap to score.

No coincidence that that came down the flank usually patrolled by the dazed Viliame Kikau.

25′ Viliame Kikau is wobbly out there

By Jon Healy

The big Bulldog tries to pull off a massive shot on Toby Rudolf and comes out of it reeling. He looks shaken and there are definitely some symptoms there. His night might be over too.

22′ Reed Mahoney on report for nasty lifting tackle

By Jon Healy

The Canterbury hooker will have a nervous wait for the match review charges after an ugly lifting tackle on Nicho Hynes.

He didn’t drive him into the turf, but her went well above the horizontal and Mahoney is on report.

11′ Dogs go close but Sharks turn up in numbers

By Jon Healy

Both teams are going full speed ahead on every play right now and the Bulldogs go within a metre through Marcelo Montoya.

He’s hit high in the corner by Nicho Hynes. So the Dogs will reload from 10 metres out.

7′ Bulldogs ace their first defensive test

By Jon Healy

The line speed from the Dogs is phenomenal and the Sharks can’t handle it, unable to capitalise on some excellent field position.

5′ Bronson Xerri is down and dazed

By Jon Healy

The Bulldogs centre slips as he goes in to tackle Sione Katoa and hits his head on the Sharks winger’s hip.

It looks to me like category 1 symptoms for Xerri, so he’ll leave the game for good and enter concussion protocols and miss next week’s first final against Melbourne.

Reed Mahoney comes onto the field, so Matt Burton moves to left centre and Bailey Hayward goes from hooker to five-eighth.

1′ Anyway, the game is underway

By Jon Healy

Neither of these teams can improve from third (for the Bulldogs) or fifth (for the Sharks) so this is an exercise in avoiding injuries, suspensions or anything too demoralising.

Wolfmother welcomes the Bulldogs onto the park

By Jon Healy

Canterbury has hired the Brisbane band to play the intro to Joker And The Thief to welcome the Dogs onto the ground.

Both teams are in position just as they start singing, but then they kick off and I guess cut off the mics.

What an odd choice.

FULL-TIME: Titans send Kieran Foran out a winner

By Jon Healy

(Getty)

The Titans were down 28-12 at half-time, but 24 unanswered points in that second half complete a glorious comeback to send retiring Kieran Foran out on a high note with a 36-28 win.

“I shouldn’t be surprised because we’ve done a few of those this season. What a bunch of blokes,” he tells Fox Sports.

Foran was huge in that comeback, unleashing AJ Brimson and the rest of the Titans’ left-side attack, finishing with a line break, two try assists and two line-break assists.

The victory also moves the Titans off last spot on the NRL ladder for now.

They’re relying on the Eels beating the Knights tomorrow to avoid the wooden spoon.

74′ Could the Titans avoid the wooden spoon?

By Jon Healy

The Titans don’t control their own fate, but if they hang on to win here, and the Knights lose to the Eels tomorrow afternoon, the Gold Coast will have earned a top-16 finish.

AJ Brimson is over and the points just keep coming

By Jon Healy

Keano Kini scythes through the middle and the Titans fire it out to the left, where AJ Brimson once again takes advantage of the retreating defence.

He burns Heath Mason for speed and crashes through the tackle of Sunia Turuva to score his second for the day.

Campbell’s conversion is good! The Titans lead by eight with six minutes left.

FERMOR SCORES AND THE TITANS LEAD THE TIGERS

By Jon Healy

The Titans spin it left on halfway, AJ Brimson puts a move on Starford Toa and unleashes Brian Kelly down the left. He outpaces Heath Mason’s chase and times the inside ball perfectly for Beau Fermor to score.

Jayden Campbell converts and the Titans lead 30-28 with 12 minutes left.

A flying Fa’asuamaleaui creates a try for the Titans

By Jon Healy

The Titans start their set with momentum thanks to Jaylan De Groot swooping on a deflected Jarome Luai grubber.

The Tigers are very lucky not to be pinged for holding the Titans down, but no matter as they make their way up field and Jayden Campbell kicks across the field for Tino Fa’asuamaleaui of all people.

The big skipper leaps above Heath Mason and manages to offload on his way down to the ground. Kieran Foran collects and fires a long ball out to Brian Kelly to score on the left.

Jayden Campbell converts and the Tigers only lead 28-24 as we head into the last 15 minutes.

Bulldogs stun Sharks in NRLW

By Jon Healy

Last year’s grand finalists and currently fourth-placed Cronulla have been beaten by second-last Canterbury. And beaten convincingly, 24-14, by the 11th-placed Bulldogs.

It’s not ideal for the Sharks, who have the Knights and Titans looming just behind them with one game left before the finals.

58′ Latu Fainu looks hurt

By Jon Healy

Latu Fainu goes down in a tackle and gets up holding his left arm in pain.

He runs straight off the field and is replaced by Heath Mason.

Fainu is straight up tunnel.

52′ The bunker takes Cooper Bai’s debut try off him

By Jon Healy

We’ve had Heamasi Makasini scoring on his debut and now it appears Cooper Bai has done the same.

But the bunker might spoil the party.

The ball was bombed and the Titans batted the ball back for Josh Patston to offload to Cooper Bai, who dived in 40 seconds after coming on the field in his first game.

But, despite the try being awarded on the field, the bunker steps in and rightly calls out Keano Kini for leaping straight into the Jahream Bula in the aerial contest.

The roofs that were just blown off in PNG will have to be quietly replaced after that effort.

48′ The Fainu brothers continue to shine

By Jon Healy

Jayden Campbell drifts across the field and looks to put Izsac Fa’asuamaleaui through a hole, but he’s blindsided by Sione Fainu, who forces the error from Campbell.
