Concern for Ryan

Midway through the second term, Liam Ryan has been helped from the field with a suspected glute injury.

There was some concern for Ryan, who lay on the ground for some time while the Saints’ medical staff attended to his condition.

It took until the sixth minute of the second quarter, but the Eagles have a goal to their name.

Harley Reid was awarded a free kick inside the attacking 50,  and he slotted the set-shot with ease.

The Eagles trail the Saints by 14 points.

Eagles waste chance

Elliot Yeo had the ideal opportunity to kick the Eagles’ opening goal of the match, early in the second term.

He marked in front of goal but instead of taking his time with the set-shot, he quickly played on and missed his target.

The Eagles came away with a point.

Higgins marked in the pocket and went around the corner from his set-shot chance to push the Saints further in front.

Sam Flanders kicks the Saints’ second goal of the quarter.

Mitch Owens had chipped a pass into the attacking 50 to find Cooper Sharman on the lead.

The angle wasn’t easy for Sharman, so he passed to an unmarked Flanders, who nailed the set-shot.

At last! We have a goal!

Following Jake Waterman’s behind, the Saints swiftly moved into attack and sent the ball forward.

The Eagles’ Tylar Young was in position to mark the ball in the defensive 50, but the pill slipped through his fingers.

Mitch Owens did the crumbing and handballed to Liam Ryan, who kicked the opening goal of the match.

Saints lead by a kick.
