Trump Pushes USPS Mail Ballot Verification Plan – Dems Immediately Threaten Lawsuits

Democrats will sue. Activist groups will fundraise off it. The media will call it voter suppression. The administration is moving ahead anyway, and for the roughly 80 percent of Americans who consistently tell pollsters they support basic election security measures, that’s the right call.

Watch: Platner Weighs in on ‘Sexting’ Story – It’s an Absolute Trainwreck

It’s quite something to watch a campaign implode in real time. But I think we can officially say, Platner has jumped the shark with this spin, and the campaign is trying to clean it up. They probably have the sense to know other things might drop.

What Lies Beneath: Massive Secret Vault Under Lincoln Memorial to Be Opened to Public for America250

I took the family to the Lincoln Memorial back in the day. Now it looks like we need to make a return visit.

Bearing Arms — Here’s Another Reason Cops Aren’t Checking to See if It’s a BB Gun Pointed at Them

Either the officer knows it’s a BB gun or he doesn’t. In most cases, he doesn’t, but let’s say he does this time. Should he just assume that he’ll be the rule rather than the exception who gets killed with an air pistol? Should he simply let himself get shot and pray that the odds are in his favor?

HotAir — Newark New Jersey Is a War Zone

As I have been saying, this will be a long, hot summer, and I’m not certain the Democrats are ready to face what they have unleashed.

PJ Media — Busted! Leftist Media Wants You to Think Talarico Is Polling Ahead of Paxton in Texas

So, let’s take a look at this latest poll on Talarico and Paxton from TPOR. All of the legacy media has picked it up and run with it without any indication that the pollsters might not be non-partisan.

Townhall — The Autopsy of the Democrat Disaster of 2026

Hey, if they cant see their mistakes, we cant help them anyway. And they cant help themselves.

Twitchy — DHS Reality Checks and Wrecks Hakeem Jeffries Over an ICE Detention Center and Immigration Laws

The Department of Homeland Security had some self-awareness reminders for the House Minority Leader while also letting him know a detention center isn’t supposed to be the Four Seasons.

WHAT’S ON TAP?

Today on Capitol Hill…

The critters return to the Hill this week, though there are no formal meetings/hearings set for Monday. The big focus — or one of them, at least — will be reconciliation. Can the GOP coalesce around a package that passes parliamentary muster and get something done? I wouldn’t advise holding your breath, but hope springs eternal.

White House What’s Up

President Trump stayed in town over the weekend again, and is gearing up for a busy day on Monday, which includes:

  • 8:00 AM — THE PRESIDENT participates in Executive Time — The White House
  • 11:00 AM — THE PRESIDENT participates in a Policy Meeting — Oval Office
  • 4:30 PM — THE PRESIDENT signs an Executive Order — Oval Office
  • 5:00 PM — THE PRESIDENT participates in a Policy Meeting — Oval Office
  • 5:30 PM — THE PRESIDENT participates in a Policy Meeting — Oval Office

Keeping Up With the Cabinet

Sec. Energy – Chris Wright — Wright continues to tout the Trump administration’s “energy addition” agenda.

Full Court Press…

We had a few notable court rulings over the past few days, so here’s a round-up of those:

  • ❌ In J.O.P. v. DHS (enforce consent decree), Judge Stephanie Gallagher (Maryland) GRANTS motion to modify settlement agreement and extends termination date of consent decree. [5/26]
  • ❌ In V.O.S. Selections v. Trump (tariffs), Judge Richard Eaton (Court of International Trade) lifts stay, orders parties to show cause, and orders CBP commissioner to appear. [5/29]
  • ❌ In Trump v. IRS (Tax return/Privacy Act), Judge Kathleen Williams (Southern District of Florida) ORDERS case re-opened. [5/29]
  • ❌ In Castañon Nava v. DHS (immigration enforcement/consent decree), Judge Jeffrey Cummings (Northern District of Illinois) GRANTS plaintiffs’ motion to enforce consent decree as to J.C.C. [5/29]
  • ↔️ In Urban Sustainability Directors Network v. USDA (termination of grants), Judge Beryl Howell (D.C.) GRANTS plaintiffs’ motion to supplement record; DENIES motion for sanctions. [5/29]

And with only one month left in the 2025 term and 26 decisions to go, it’s a safe bet there will be at least one SCOTUS opinion day this week.

COMING ATTRACTIONS

President Trump is set to attend the G7 Summit in Évian-Les-Bains, France, in mid-June.

There will be some interesting congressional hearings this week, as well, including funding for the State Department, Department of Homeland Security, and the Treasury Department, as well as oversight of the Department of Justice.

MORNING MUSING

Nick Arama touched on this in an earlier article, but I’ve had this exchange outside the ICE detention facility in Newark, New Jersey, bouncing around my mind all weekend.

Warning: Language

Like Nick, I think this chaplain may be my new hero. “I love you. Shaddap.” That should become the standard response to, well, so very many situations, in my view.

It’s kind of got this energy, only without the actual slap.

Which isn’t to say that the harridan shown in the video with the chaplain might not have that coming, as well. But so as to avoid messy litigation and such, I’m all for giving the screeching hordes a healthy, healthy dose of “I love you. Shaddap.”

LIGHTER FARE

More than one way to…scan a cat. (Thank you — I’ll show myself out.)
