Fans were ecstatic as South Africa qualified for the knockout stage of a World Cup for the first time in its history.

Thapelo Maseko’s second-half goal gave South Africa a 1-0 win over South Korea in Monterrey to send them through.

South Africa, who before this summer had not qualified for a World Cup since hosting it in 2010, have finished third in every other World Cup group stage they have featured in.

South Korea finished third in Group A and will need results elsewhere to go their way to reach the last 32.
