It is getting to be a longer list of supposed news items the media want us to focus on, only to later see themselves avoiding the very type of issue they have insisted was vital. It becomes a glimmering example of how the press has a particular focus on a target, and not the subject itself, when later examples of the same issue emerge and warrant nothing more than apathy

As just one current example, the years spent obsessing over the Epstein files have been said to be an entreaty for us to care about the victims. Yet the press is proven to be harping on the topic solely as a cudgel against President Trump when a British report on the breadth of the rape gangs scandal came out last week, and not a chirp was heard from our media.

But there is a revealing example now coming out that is even more illustrative, because it is one that involves the press itself. It stands as another item of proof that if Trump’s name can be attached, that is the sole reason for the press to become energized. The words used to justify the coverage become nothing more than balloon juice when a new example crops up and becomes ignored because it does not concern the president.
As Rusty covered here yesterday, we had a member of Congress involved in a physical altercation with a reporter. When Democrat Representative Seth Moulton (MA-6) was arriving at a location, a Fox News reporter was positioned to greet him and asked Moulton about his support for the contentious Senate candidate for Maine, Graham Platner. Moulton responded by approaching the reporter and smacking his phone out of his grip, as he stormed past.

In a longer version of the video, the assault is made clearer. We see Moulton arriving on the street and mounting the steps where the reporter is positioned, and, while receiving rather innocuous questioning, he brusquely swats the phone away as he moves into the building.

Scanning news feeds and social media, there is little to be found on Moulton’s actions, save for select sites on the right. No Massachusetts news outlets seem interested in his confrontation. This is a rather stark dose of silence, considering the levels of drama we have been served from the press since Trump’s re-arrival.
Any time there has been an example of Trump’s patented confrontational style with reporters, we have been treated to the wails of offense from the press. His brusque manner and harsh criticisms of individual reporters or their outlets during Oval Office press clatches, or gathered discussions on Air Force One, have been followed with hyperbolic coverage.

Trump’s “attacks” on the media have been said to be violations of the First Amendment and described as threats to our democracy, because the press is a venerated body that is above such harsh treatment. This is also usually couched as the result of the journalists conducting their constitutional obligation to hold the powerful accountable.
Now take all of that pontificating and frame it against Moulton’s behavior yesterday. Trump’s offenses were in the vocal delivery of rebukes; how is Moulton’s physical aggression not brought up, when by the descriptions from the press, it should be regarded as an even worse offense?!
This is how the press have exposed themselves, yet again. The bleating we have heard about the president is shown to be all about the fact that it was HIM being offensive to them. Any other example of press aggression — especially seen from a Democrat — is never regarded as being serious. And Moulton is behaving with the confidence of that lack of press accountability.
Typical MAGA to classify an @AmericaRising tracker as a “reporter.” I’m not going to apologize for how much MAGA pisses me off. I’ll take them on anywhere, anytime, and I won’t back down. If this tracker can’t handle a reality check or hold onto his own equipment, that’s on him.… pic.twitter.com/riBM8tu119

This is a politician operating with the knowledge that the press will not be coming to call, demanding explanations and holding him to account for his actions. It is a bizarre reality that accosting someone is considered acceptable, while locker room insults are regarded as the highest inequity.
Seth Moulton exposes yet another fracture in journalism’s credibility; as always, when something objectionable plays out, the press takes the usual stance of “That’s (D)ifferent”.
