Why are the Democrats a mess?
There are a lot of reasons, from spending 10 years focusing on trying to get President Donald Trump to playing footsie with the radical left. And those radicals have taken over whatever “policies” they might talk about, driving them to extremes. The truth is, Democratic “moderates” are few and far between.

But as we saw with the socialist wins in New York, even the incumbent Democrats who were progressives weren’t left enough for them. The socialists were chanting that House Minority Leader Hakeem Jeffries (NY-08) was “next” as his endorsed candidates lost to those of Mayor Zohran Mamdani.

You would think that Jeffries might have some strong statements to show some leadership in the wake of the debacle to try to grab people back.
But as our sister site Townhall reported, the interview he did on CNBC showed how empty he is. Host Joe Kernen laid out the problem of embracing the socialists who have made past statements about abolishing police and prisons, not to mention calling all deportations wrong.

“When the Democratic Party includes someone in that tent that believes these things, I don’t think any of those things are gonna solve what you just talked about, or are an answer to any of our problems that you delineate so eloquently.
“They were saying you’re next about Hakeem Jeffries. ‘You’re next! You’re next! You’re next!’
“You can’t think this is a positive development in New York politics, can you? And, oh, they’ll just…Dems will be Dems, or something like that, I don’t see how you can say that.
“You need to reject those things, I think.”

Yet, there’s the problem: Kernen makes too much sense.

Even as Jeffries is confronted with the radical positions and claims he’s rejected them, he still ducks the point and immediately defaults to “Donald Trump.”
This is why he is losing; he can’t even deal with the socialists, even when they are specifically warning they’re going to take him out.
Then, too, Jeffries couldn’t even update his talking points when it came to oil prices. He got nailed big time for not telling the truth about the current prices. He claimed the national average was $4.20.

“Squawk Box” then showed that it was a lie, that it was actually below $4. “It’s $3.93,” Joe Kernen corrected Jeffries.
Jeffries says they’re going to address prices “decisively.” Yet everything was higher when the Democrats were in charge. If they could do it, why didn’t they do it then?

Why would anyone take what Jeffries says seriously, particularly when he can’t tell the truth? Joe Biden drove the price of gas up with bad policies. Trump brought it down, and it’s coming back down now to that again. Democrats don’t live in reality.
If Jeffries and the Democrats had sense, they’d listen to Kernen. But they don’t, and that’s just one more thing that may buoy races for the Republicans when normal Americans see all this craziness.
