More Details on ‘Explosion’ at NYC Fed HQs, Now Being Investigated As ‘Anti-Government Attack’

There are now more details about that “explosion” outside 26 Federal Plaza in New York City this morning.

An armed maniac lit an “incendiary device” outside a federal building in lower Manhattan early Monday in an anti-ICE attack being investigated by the terrorism task force, according to officials and sources.

The unidentified man started a fire outside of 26 Federal Plaza, ignited fireworks and threatened passersby with airsoft rifles around 8:30 a.m., police and sources said.

The man was taken into custody by federal agents, and reportedly, they found a cart with an anti-ICE message on it. You can see a cart here that appears to say “ICE off our streets.”

26 Federal Plaza houses many federal agencies, including the FBI, Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE), and U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services. ICE agents were among those who responded to the person allegedly behind the attack. 

The FBI said the FBI New York Joint Terrorism Task Force was “investigating” it as a possible “antigovernment attack.”

According to the FBI, two people were injured in the attack. 

According to ABC7, police say the person is believed to be a protester with a history of anti-ICE activity.

“What occurred outside 26 Federal Plaza this morning was deeply disturbing,” Mayor Zohran Mamdani said. “I’m relieved no one was seriously injured and that a suspect is in custody. My team is in touch with the NYPD and we will support the federal investigation. Our administration will continue to ensure that every New Yorker is safe in their city – and hold accountable any who threaten that.”

Yeah, no, Mayor Mamdani can’t just say that and act like now he cares, and he can pretend he’s supportive of the government investigation, while Democrats have gone all in to demonize ICE. We’re fortunate that it was only two minor injuries, and that people weren’t more seriously injured. But they could have been, and Democrats need to stop fanning the flames. This attack follows numerous problematic leftist actions against ICE and federal immigration enforcement.
