It’s probably a very uncomfortable position to be in when, as a Donald Trump appointee, you find yourself the object of his wrath in a very public Truth Social posting.

That’s the exact position D.C. U.S. Attorney Jeanine Pirro finds herself in Saturday after the president posted a scathing message on his social media platform excoriating her for failing to prosecute a Reflecting Pool vandal.
You thought you had heard the end of the Lincoln Memorial Reflecting Pool shenanigans, hadn’t you?
In his post, Trump said he disagreed “100%” with Pirro over her decision to drop charges against former Olympian David Hearn, 67, who had been indicted by Pirro’s office in July after he “allegedly ripped up a section of the pool’s newly installed blue sealant just months after the National Mall underwent extensive renovations ahead of America’s 250th anniversary.”
At the time, Pirro declared her office had the evidence to prove beyond a reasonable doubt that Hearn had “willfully destroyed” the pool, and she accused him of “forcefully and violently” removing the newly-installed lining. A grand jury subsequently indicted Hearn, who pleaded not guilty on July 9.
On Friday, however, Pirro’s office suddenly dropped the charges against Hearn, saying it was determined that the damage was largely due to a rushed and defective installation, not vandalism. This was never going to sit well with President Trump, who was heavily involved in the renovation and restoration of the Reflecting Pool as he prepped the Nation’s Capital for its 250th birthday celebrations.
And it’s precisely because the president was so involved with the project that the Left became weirdly obsessed with it, with one media-type even taking water samples to test the amount of algae in it and others trying to tear at the sealant. Normal people do not do this.

A clearly frustrated Trump pointed out Saturday the level of absurdity had led one TDS sufferer to emblazon James Comey’s favorite numbers – 86 47 – on the lawn near the pool. This is vandalism, maintained the president, with the subtext of his post being that it should be treated as such.
A frustrated Trump asked of Pirro’s decision to drop the charges, “I don’t know what she was thinking?”

The president quickly followed that up with another post showing a video of one vandal caught in the act.

It’s likely not just the charges being dropped that has infuriated the president, but also the reasoning Pirro’s office gave for the issues with the pool, including allegations that the contractor’s work was sloppy, there was widespread peeling across the pool, and the resealing work had been rushed ahead of the America 250 celebrations.
Pirro has apparently left enough legal wiggle room to reinstate the charges against Hearn in the future, so it will be interesting to see how she handles the heat from President Trump.
