Officers rushed to a flat on Kam Ping Street at around 9.19pm after a woman called police to report that her husband had attacked her and her mother-in-law, according to the force.
A source said officers encountered the man at the scene wielding a knife and a pair of scissors.
The insider said despite multiple orders to disarm and verbal warnings, the man continued to advance towards officers, prompting one of them to discharge his firearm.
