Ballout was identified as the lead suspect after a flurry of bizarre headlines suggesting that a “van” had rammed into a crowd near the Pride parade in Berlin, killing one woman and injuring 29 more, according to the latest estimate.
In the aftermath of the deadly attack, German authorities begrudgingly admitted that the suspect was known to be active on the “Islamic scene.”

But it is even worse than that. As the BBC reported, the suspect appears to have been affiliated with the Islamic State.
As we reported earlier, suspect Abdul Ballout had been convicted and given a prison sentence that he had not yet served.
Here’s a BBC timeline of the relevant background:
June 16 and 24, 2024: Ballout publishes prohibited Islamic State propaganda on Instagram. Later, the prosecutor’s office says, he allegedly “developed the desire to join the armed struggle of ISIS”.
20 May 2025: He travels to Lebanon via Turkey, with the intention of heading to Syria and joining the Islamic State group.
24 July 2025: He is arrested in Lebanon and sentenced to three months in prison for incitement to religious and sectarian conflict.
17 November 2025: Ballout returns to Germany after being released, and is arrested at Berlin Brandenburg Airport.
12 May 2026: The Tiergarten District Court sentences him to one year and 10 months’ imprisonment for “preparing a serious act of violence endangering the state”. The decision is deferred for six months.
3 July 2026: His address in Berlin-Schöneberg is searched based on suspicion of a violation of Germany’s Weapons Act, but only a toy gun is found.
25 July 2026: Ballout allegedly seriously injures several people in a vehicle ramming attack in Berlin, and a number more “with a bladed weapon”.

The media’s reportage fits a familiar pattern: lies of omission.
The news-consuming public, active on social media platforms like X, has caught on to the tactic.

Whenever a terror attack strikes and the media do not immediately identify a suspect, or imply that inanimate objects are to blame, then the public assumes that they are hiding that person’s identity to “protect the public” from assuming that it was a radical Muslim or a left-wing ideologue to blame.
These media outlets do not want to invite scrutiny of radicals or foreigners, and therefore, they effectively promote policies that can potentially end in tragedy.
A public that is not armed with the information needed to enact effective policies is being made vulnerable to disastrous outcomes that happen over and over again.
The Orwellian media need to get back to reporting the truth about current events, even if it doesn’t fit their ideological agenda. That way, we can have an open and honest debate about public policy, informed by facts, instead of cherry-picked propaganda.
