Two of the Americans kidnapped by armed gunmen in Mexico on Friday were found dead, and two are alive, the governor of Tamaulipas, Américo Villarreal Anaya, said in a phone call with Mexican President Andrés Manuel López Obrador on Tuesday.
The four Americans have been identified as Latavia “Tay” McGee, Shaeed Woodard, Zindell Brown, and Eric James Williams. According to her mother, McGee and her cousin Woodard were among the victims in Matamoros, along with their friends Brown and Williams.
Two of the four Americans who were shot at by gunmen and kidnapped shortly after crossing the border into northern Mexico last week are dead, according to the governor of Tamaulipas state.

Gov. Américo Villarreal made the announcement over the phone at a presidential news conference Tuesday morning, noting that one of the surviving victims is wounded and the other unharmed.
It’s not clear where they were found.
Mexican President Andrés Manuel López Obrador said further details would be released later.
