Culiacán, Sin.- The city of Culiacán dawned amidst heavy gunfights, chases and overflights by armed forces helicopters, where so far at least one person has been reported dead, abandoned armored vehicles, as well as the burning of some units at the exits of the city and elements of the Mexican Army injured by gunfire.
It all began minutes before 6:00 a.m. on Monday, September 9, when the 911 emergency service was informed of the sighting of several recent model suburban and double-wheel drive vehicles with armed people in a convoy of up to 40 units at the north exit of the city, Infonavit Humaya, Malecon Nuevo, Miguel Hidalgo, La Campiña, Las Quintas and the south exit.
At the moment, at least two soldiers have been injured by gunshot wounds after these confrontations and are being transported to receive medical attention at the ISSSTE hospital under heavy security and aboard a Sedena ambulance escorted by several units of the agency.
A confrontation between armed groups has also been confirmed in the Miguel Hidalgo neighborhood at Revolución Avenue and Miguel Hidalgo Street, where at least one person was killed and a vehicle was presumably abandoned with gunshot damage.
Another four-door white pickup with multiple gunshot wounds to the bodywork and windows was left abandoned in front of the Manuel Avila Camacho school, better known as the “Escuela Tipo”, on Francisco I. Madero Boulevard, and another vehicle similar to a Chevrolet Suburban, also of recent model and with gunshot damage, was found abandoned on the same boulevard near the area known as Caseta 4.
Another unit was also reported intentionally burned under the bridge of Libramiento Benito Juarez, ‘La Costera’ and Heroico Colegio Militar road at the height of Jardines del Humaya cemetery, but so far the situation is critical in the city of Culiacan as clashes continue to be reported in different parts of the municipality of Culiacan and Navolato.

Various audios have circulated confirming Ismael Zambada Sicairos “Mayo Flaco”, leader of the Mayo Zambada criminal organization of the Sinaloa Cartel, has authorized his hitmen to attack Los Chapitos in the city of Culiacan, Sinaloa.
Dozens of videos have circulated on social media that confirm the presence of armored vehicles of the Mayo Zambada criminal organization patrolling Culiacan, Sinaloa.
Following clashes multiple vehicles would be seized by officers of the Sinaloa Transit Police and transported to an unidentified location presumably to undergo investigating.

Although no official entity has disclosed the number of fatalities or injuries that have resulted from the violent incident, images would circulate of two injured Military personnel presumably sustained while a confrontation with gunmen, leaving one with a leg injury and another suffering from a facial injury.
