“Ivan” for Borderland Beat
Ismael Quintero Arellanes, nephew of Rafael Caro Quintero, was extradited to the United States.
The Attorney General’s Office informed that Quintero Arellanes is wanted by the Federal Court of the Eastern District of New York for the crimes of criminal association, against health and illegal possession of weapons.
“In compliance with the Extradition Treaty signed between Mexico and the United States of America, the Attorney General’s Office of the Republic (FGR) extradited to the Government of that country a Mexican national wanted by the Federal District Court for the Eastern District of New York, for the crimes of criminal association, against health and illegal possession of weapons,” it states.
“Ismael “Q” was part of a criminal organization where he was responsible for the logistics of drug trafficking from Mexico to the United States, as well as its manufacture and transportation to send it to that country. He was also in charge of the security and protection of another member of the same criminal gang”.
Caro Quintero’s nephew was arrested in January 2020 in the city of Culiacán.
“He was handed over at the Mexico City International Airport (AICM) to the U.S. agents designated for his final transfer”.
