“Sol Prendido” for Borderland Beat

A plaza boss for the Cartel Del Noreste in Nuevo Laredo has been arrested, according to Mexican media.
Mexico’s army and the Mexican National Guard arrested 34-year-old Cesar Alejandro Silva Delgado, who is known as “Tartas.”
During his arrest, authorities seized a gold-plated AK-47, a handgun, ammo and magazines for high-caliber firearms. Authorities also seized 2,500 fentanyl pills.
The operation to take down Silva Delgado unfolded at about 6:58 a.m. Nov. 29 in the Colonia Infonavit Fundadores in south Nuevo Laredo.
Once arrested, armed forces turned over Silva Delgado to the Prosecutor’s Office Specialized in Organized Crime Matters.
Around the time of the operation, the U.S. Consulate in Nuevo Laredo instructed its employees to shelter in place “out of an abundance of caution.” The shelter in place was lifted at about 11 a.m.
“The Consulate continues to closely monitor the security situation in the city of Nuevo Laredo. Visa and passport services will resume on Thursday, November 30. We will contact applicants to reschedule any previously canceled appointments,” the Consulate said in a statement.
