A man was arrested after he was caught selling a kilogram of cocaine for $17,000, according to the Drug Enforcement Administration.
Miguel Angel Lara Monsivais was arrested on the charge of possession with intent to distribute a controlled substance.
In August, DEA special agents began an investigation on the cocaine distribution by Lara Monsivais in Laredo.
He was identified as a local distributor of narcotics, according to court documents.
Special agents received information on the transaction of 1 kilogram of cocaine for $17,000 in Laredo. At about 12:55 p.m., authorities established surveillance on Laredo to witness the transaction.
Lara Monsivais was at a mechanic shop on Lane Street. At about 1:17 p.m., a vehicle arrived in the area. Authorities arrested Lara Monsivais following the exchange. Special agents then seized 1.12 kilograms of cocaine.
Lara Monsivais then allowed authorities to search his residence, where 0.7866 kilograms of cocaine were also located. During a post-arrest interview, Lara Monsivais stated he was selling a kilogram of cocaine for $17,000, states the affidavit.
The combined weight of the cocaine was 1.9 kilograms, according to court documents.
