DHS Delivers a Devastating Schooling to Jeffries and Dems Who Show Up at Newark ICE Facility

Anti-ICE agitators have wreaked havoc for days at the Delaney Hall ICE facility in Newark, New Jersey, attacking and threatening law enforcement. 

Democrat leaders have been showing up at the ICE facility, as well, helping to whip up the situation.

It got so bad that even the Democratic governor of New Jersey, Mikie Sherill, who had previously shown up, was deploying the New Jersey State Police, and Newark was putting on curfew to help stem the violence.

Newark Ordered a Curfew Around Delaney Hall – Anti-ICE Protesters Ignored It

So what did the Democrats do, even as law enforcement was getting things under control, but try to whip things up a little more? 

House Minority Leader Hakeem Jeffries (NY-08) showed up with a delegation of Democratic members of Congress from New Jersey over the weekend for an oversight visit.

Jeffries argued that Delaney Hall should be shut down. He claimed he spoke to several individuals, none of whom “had a criminal record” but had been there for months. He then went into his “16 different hand movements to look like Barack Obama” move, alleging there was a lack of food and adequate medical care. “That’s not America,” he asserted. 

“Delaney Hall should be shut down,” he said. “And every single individual, particularly those at a high level, connected to this facility, they’re engaging in a depraved indifference to human life.” He then threatened every member of the Trump administration, “Every single member of this Trump administration is going to be held accountable.” 

But the Department of Homeland Security X account finished him with a lesson on the law.

A reminder for @RepJeffries

1) DHS doesn’t make the laws, Congress does. We don’t pick and choose which laws to enforce—and neither should you as a “lawmaker.”  

2) It is a crime to enter the United States illegally. EVERYONE being held inside Delaney Hall broke the law.

This is a detention center — we do not provide luxury accommodations. What we do provide are basic necessities like beds, clean water, comprehensive healthcare, and 3 meals a day until they go HOME.

That’s a great answer, but it’s ridiculous that they have to tell members of Congress they’re just doing the job in accordance with the law passed by Congress. Then, remind Jeffries of this fallacy about not committing a crime. If they entered illegally, it is a crime, and they are supposed to be deported. 

Then, too, what’s the evidence that anyone is being poorly treated? As we reported, the DHS released the food that they were being given, and it looked better than some Americans probably get. Plus, they also have access to a commissary that they were reportedly hitting for things like Doritos and honey buns.

But the Democrats don’t care about facts; they want to stop the system and deportations. 

Jeffries and his delegation are also skipping over an inconvenient fact. The facility operated as an ICE facility by the same private company, GEO Group, under Barack Obama, when some Democrats still believed in enforcing the law. Here’s what GEO Group said last year, after Democrats also created a scene at the facility.

Florida-based GEO Group said the mayor is politicizing the situation and that city officials didn’t object when the Obama administration operated the facility as an ICE processing center.

Whoops. They want people to believe that the Trump administration came up with ICE and detention centers, or that they’re suddenly an evil thing. There is, of course, a simple solution if the Democrats don’t like detention centers — agree to streamlining deportation even more. But they won’t do that. 

Then, too, where were they to stand on behalf of Americans affected by the crimes of illegal aliens? Missing in action.
