It’s a story we’ve read all too often.
The illegal alien who made an illegal U-turn on a highway in Florida in August 2025 and caused a crash that killed three people. The tragic accident caused by Jashanpreet Singh in California in October that resulted in three fatalities. The horrific death of a newlywed couple in a crash caused by a trucker in Oregon in November of that same year. The driver was an Indian national in the U.S. illegally who got his commercial driver’s license in Gavin Newsom’s California.

Now it’s happened again, and it could have been prevented if leftist politicians simply applied something they all too often seem unfamiliar with: common sense.
The man who was behind the wheel of a tractor-trailer that struck and killed a Pa. State Police trooper in a crash in Schuylkill County on Wednesday has been charged with homicide and other crimes.
On Thursday, officials announced Michael Bon, 33, of Brockton, Mass., with homicide by vehicle, involuntary manslaughter, reckless driving and related offenses after Pennsylvania State Police trooper Michael E. Pahira, Jr., was killed on Wednesday morning when he was struck while doing a vehicle safety inspection along Interstate 81 in Schuylkill County.
According to police, the 44-year-old Pahira died after a tractor-trailer driven by Bon struck the trooper as he was conducting a safety inspection of a commercial vehicle along the southbound side of I-81 near mile marker 119.3 in Cass Township.
The local NBC report cited above fails to mention a salient fact: that Bon is here illegally. That’s today’s media for you.
Transportation Secretary Sean Duffy is speaking out, telling viewers on Fox News on Monday that blue states like Massachusetts could work to prevent tragedies like this, but instead, they actively work against solutions:

Duffy said requiring drivers to be proficient in English and be able to understand road signs is an absolute no-brainer. But for officials in the Bay State, they’d rather work on flouting the federal government than protecting their own citizens:
The English language proficiency [issue], this is illegals who come into the country, they can get driver’s licenses. This was from the last administration. I have changed the rules. When I changed the rules, I was sued by states like Massachusetts, and if they hadn’t sued me, and a judge hadn’t paused us, this man would have never had a license, and Trooper Pahira would still be alive.

Duffy didn’t hold back when describing the politicians and judges who seemingly don’t give a rat’s butt that drivers behind the wheel of huge semis can’t understand the road signs and can’t speak the language. They’re liberal radical leftists, he charged:
These liberal radical leftists are fighting us every step of the way. We might disagree on immigration, and how many people should come in this country, but every single — whether it’s a governor or a representative, congressman, senator — should support us in the safety of making sure the American people, when they get on the road, are safe with other drivers.
And, frankly, they fought us.

This is what’s at the heart of what is so wrong with the progressives’ philosophy on governance: they’d rather put ideology over the safety of the American people. It’s folks like Trooper Pahira — and his family — who pay the price.
