The State Attorney General’s Office confirmed on Thursday morning that there were five road blockades with vehicles set on fire on Wednesday night by organized crime groups in the municipalities of Encarnacion de Diaz, Lagos de Moreno and Ojuelos.
The state agency detailed that one of the points was located at kilometer 40 of the León-Aguascalientes highway, in the municipality of Lagos de Moreno, where individuals in a pick up truck set fire to a heavy load truck. The criminals sprayed fuel with jerry cans and set fire to two vehicles, a pickup truck and a sedan.
The second site was near the community of El Salvador, in the municipality of Encarnación de Díaz, where unknown individuals set fire to a private vehicle.
The third site was near the community of San José del Bajío, on the border with Aguascalientes, where armed individuals burned a pickup truck and a sedan.
The fourth blockade was on the Encarnacion de Diaz highway, 30 kilometers ahead of the Lagos-Leon junction, in the municipality of Ojuelos, where a burned Nissan van was located, which was removed to clear the traffic by National Guard personnel.
Finally, on highway 80 San Luis Potosí-Lagos de Moreno, near the town of Las Amarillas, municipality of Ojuelos, a personnel transport truck was found on fire, blocking traffic.
In all cases, elements of the State Civil Protection and the State and Municipal Police went to the points indicated to quickly extinguish the fire and remove the vehicles that were blocking the road.
Social media users posted several videos showing long lines of vehicles and motorists getting out of their cars to take videos and photos of the burned cars.
Unofficial reports indicate that the Sedena elements deployed an operation to detain a member of a criminal group, and this caused the blockades.
In none of the cases were people injured.
