“Enojon” For Borderland Beat
The
dismembered remains of four individuals and two handwritten banners were
discovered on August 25th in an abandoned SUV along the Chilpancingo-Acapulco
highway of Juan R. Escudero, Guerrero.
One of the
banners was a message directed at a municipal police officer, which said the
unnamed author and the officer had barely spoke recently, and hope to meet
soon. The banner was placed on top of two bodies in the trunk of the abandoned
red Jeep Cherokee.
The banner
read:
“Saludos policía municipal Geovanny apenas hablamos, espero no me cambies el
número. Pronto te llamaré para un café. Tu amigo. Saluditos”
“Greetings
municipal officer Geovanny we’ve barely spoken, I hope you haven’t changed your
number. I will call you soon for a coffee. Your friend. Regards.”
The second banner claimed that two of the
unidentified bodies, both of whom are male, belong to members of ‘Los Tlacos’ —
a criminal group in Guerrero — and threatened that those who support the
criminal group would suffer the same fate. The banner was on top of a
cooler behind the vehicle and was held down by two decapitated heads.
The banner read:
“Aquí está su puta basura, putos Tlacos me siguen peleando la verga, hijos de
su puta madre. Sigan apoyando a los putos tlacos y así van a quedar toda la
bola de pendejos.”
“Here’s your fucking garbage, fucking Tlacos… Keep
supporting the fucking Tlacos and that’s how all the assholes are going to end
up.”
Both
banners bare a striking resemblance to a banner left next to seven bodies in
Chilpancingo last June, which is suspected to have been authored by the
criminal organization Los Ardillos, a rival of Los Tlacos. The banner from June
referenced a meeting between Norma Otilia Hernández, the mayor of Chilpancingo,
and Celso Ortega Jiménez ‘La Vela,’ leader of Los Ardillos. The two banners
found in the abandoned Jeep and the banner from last June are all signed “Your
friend”, feature similar writing styles and a smiley face.
The State Attorney General’s Office of Guerrero
identified two of the four dismembered bodies as Marlén Adame Simón, President
of the Urban Committee in Tierra Colorada, and Mariela Lozano Salgado, a permit
holder of the same municipality, who were reported missing on August 23rd after
attending a meeting at a restaurant in Plam de Lima.
The two other male bodies remain unidentified. Initial
reports claimed the two unidentified male bodies were two of three members of
the Indigenous and Popular Council of Guerrero-Emiliano Zapata (CIPOG-EZ) who
were reported missing on August 17th. The members, identified as Nicolás Rodríguez Díaz,
Ángel Villalba Salvador and Marcelino Hernández Tecorral went missing while
traveling along the Chilpancingo-Chilapa highway, heading towards Zacapexo.
Authorities have made no confirmation regarding the identity of the two dismembered
male bodies discovered at the scene, or what criminal organization is
responsible for the the incident.
