
“Sol Prendido” for Borderland Beat
One of the vans carrying members of the team of the Mexican regional music group “Fuerza Regida” was shot at as it was traveling on the Puebla-Córdoba highway, near the Cumbres de Maltrata, on its way to Cancun, Quintana Roo, where it was scheduled to perform.
The van in which the security guards were traveling was passing by the place, next to a trailer of the musical group, when they were stopped by an armed criminal cell who demanded them to get out of the vehicle. The crew refused, the armed men opened fire on the vehicle.
According to reports from Imagen del Golfo, as a result of the shooting, one of the Fuerza Regida bodyguards was wounded and had to be taken to the Regional Hospital of Rio Blanco. Unfortunately he died after receiving several gunshot wounds to the chest.
After the attack, the music group’s trailer was abandoned at kilometer 243, in Trébol de Maltrata. Elements of the Prosecutor’s Office, experts and agents of the Ministerial Police arrived at the scene to carry out the pertinent investigations.
The reasons why the armed group attacked the van are not known at this time, although it is presumed that they were resisting an assault.
It is also unknown if any of the members were on board the vehicle that was attacked. It is expected that in the next few hours they will give the official version of what happened.
