Adelaide draftee Archie Ludowyke has provided the moment of the draft in an emotional interview after being selected 50th overall by the Crows.

Just moments after being selected, Ludowyke revealed that he’d given up hopes of being picked up and retreated to his bedroom upstairs to shed some tears before he heard an eruption from his living room as AFL football boss Greg Swann read out his name on the draft broadcast.

“I don’t know, I missed it,” Ludowyke said when asked how it felt to be drafted.

“I didn’t know if I was going [to be picked]. I headed upstairs and decided to cry and then I heard all the boys start cheering downstairs and I raced down.

“It means everything. It’s what I’ve worked for for 18 years and to have it finally come true is the best feeling ever.

“Adelaide, thank you. I’ll just work as hard as I can and prove everyone wrong.”

The second night of the draft was spiced up by a number of clubs managing to snare players tied to rival clubs courtesy of the AFL’s stricter draft bidding system.

Brisbane lost academy product Tyan Prindable to Collingwood at pick 32, before nabbing West Coast’s Koby Evans six selections later, as the Eagles ran out of list spots.

St Kilda was also a beneficiary of West Coast’s list blunder, drafting Charlie Banfield — the son of two-time premiership winner Drew Banfield — with the 41st pick with the Eagles unable to match.

Gold Coast had no such problems, walking away from the draft having retained each of its five academy products after matching a bid for Koby Coulson with the 46th pick.

St Kilda and GWS both re-drafted players they had previously delisted, adding Ryan Byrnes and Jake Stringer, respectively.

A total of 35 players were selected on the second night of the 2025 AFL draft — bringing the total number of players drafted this year up to 60 — as the Western Bulldogs wound up the night by adding Will Darcy, the brother of star forward Sam Darcy with the final pick.

Follow below for a recap of all the action of night two as it happened.

Pick 60: Western Bulldogs select Will Darcy

By Chris De Silva

There’s another Darcy at the Western Bulldogs!

Will Darcy is described as a “baby giraffe” by Sheehan on Fox’s coverage, which tells you he’s going to be a long-term project.

There’s a sense of the old Bruno Caboclo “he’s two years away from being two years away” on the way Darcy is being described here.

Nevertheless, it is another win for football romance.
