The force also said the driver was located inside the vehicle, adding shortly after midnight that the person was taken to Tin Shui Wai Hospital. It did not specify whether the person was dead.

Police said they received a report at around 9pm the private car travelling toward the mainland Chinese city via the Shenzhen Bay Bridge had plunged into the water.
Emergency responders rushed to the scene to carry out a rescue, with authorities beginning a sweep of nearby waters.
A police spokesman said at around 11pm that rescuers had only recovered debris from the vehicle and there were skid marks on the bridge.
