We’re seeing a lot of posturing from Democrats who are running or may have ambitions for the 2028 presidential race. They think if they act tough against President Donald Trump, that will help them in their midterm elections or in a 2028 primary.

Sen. Jon Ossoff (D-GA) is running for reelection, and people have tossed his name around for 2028, though he has claimed he has no intention of running in 2028.

But this has to be one of the grossest, most unfair attacks I’ve seen on Trump in some time. That’s saying something, given all the efforts against him. Ossoff even drags the “sailors on the Lincoln” into his political attack, which is vile.

Ossoff claims the soldiers are fighting “his [Trump’s] war.” That’s attacking their effort. It isn’t “Trump’s war.” It’s the effort of the United States that Ossoff is denigrating while we are engaged with the enemy.

Ossoff hit Trump, claiming he doesn’t want to do his job, that he sleeps and golfs, when in fact, Trump is constantly working. He’s constantly briefing the press himself, answering questions, and working on issues often late into the night. Imagine anyone criticizing that about Trump, especially following Joe Biden, who actually had real problems that the Democrats tried to hide and deny.

But this was a truly vile insinuation. “He wants to build his ballroom and travel with Natalie on their apparently defenseless flying palace gifted by the Emir of Qatar,” Ossoff said.

This is Democrats trying to hurt Trump without caring who else they might hurt in the process. Natalie Harp is Trump’s aide; she’s supposed to travel with him, and there’s nothing improper about that.

People were not letting Ossoff get away with the implication.

CNN commentator Scott Jennings termed it “pretty ugly stuff,” and scolded Democrats about the message they were sending to women.

Others termed it “misogynistic.”

Robby Starbuck pointed out how Natalie Harp had survived bone cancer because of the Right to Try Act that Trump signed into law.

“He should apologize to Natalie for doing this. I don’t think any of us would want our daughters talked about like this,” Starbuck said.

Then Trump himself nuked Ossoff into next week. His response was perhaps the best. He refused to give Ossoff the response he wanted.

Instead, Trump just dismissed Ossoff as “Pee Wee Herman,” saying they had more important things to do than deal with Ossoff. So if Ossoff was trying to get his goat, that was the best response, treating him like the joke that he is.
