Former Congressman Steve King roasted Kevin McCarthy for not having the votes he needs to become Speaker of the House in a recent tweet, saying the establishment leader had made a Faustian bargain to become Speaker and, therefore, must be denied yet again.
“Kevin McCarthy doesn’t have the votes to become Speaker,” Steve King, the former Iowa Rep. who was torpedoed by McCarthy’s establishment, wrote to Twitter.
“He has sold his soul to the Devil for the Speaker’s gavel and must be denied,” King’s tweet went on.

A frequent opponent of the GOP establishment and a fighter for the America First agenda, King was torpedoed by McCarthy and his establishment colleagues, like Tim Scott, after refusing to say that White Americans taking pride in their national identity was akin terrorism.
In reality, most believe the establishment seized upon King’s comments, to push an America First fighter out of the way.
That’s very similar to the way McCarthy ran the 2022 midterms for the House GOP, using corrupt FTX crypto money to attack MAGA candidates and support incumbent RINOs.
That’s left the GOP clinging to a razor-thin House majority, and Kevin McCarthy without enough support to become Speaker of the House.
Despite not having the votes, McCarthy is calling himself “Speaker-elect” well ahead of the January 3rd contest for the leadership position, as he struggles to hide from his corrupt FTX ties that were exposed by National File in a groundbreaking report, that’s changed the trajectory of the Speaker race altogether.
According to Rep. Andy Biggs, the Arizona-based Freedom Caucus member who’s directly challenging McCarthy for the gavel, at least 20 GOP Reps. are solidly opposed to McCarthy as Speaker, meaning that, if those votes hold, he won’t be able to take the position without significant Democrat support.
