“Sol Prendido” for Borderland Beat

On January the 6th gunmen from the Jalisco New Generation Cartel handed out gifts to children within different municipalities in the state of Michoacán.

A majority of Christians and Catholics of Hispanic descent celebrate Three Kings Day or El Día de los Reyes on this particular day.

The Christian tradition calls this day Epiphany Day, when three kings (Melchior from Europe, Gaspar from Arabia, and Balthazar from Africa) arrived on the backs of animals bearing gifts of gold, frankincense and myrrh for the baby Jesus.
