And she has done so here too, winning the fourth and final heat at a canter to qualify second-fastest for tonight’s final.
The Queenslander looked absolutely sensational in the water through the 200-300 second, underlining her status as favourite.
Fellow Aussie Jenna Forrester came back at her in the closing stages, but Pallister was always in control, easing off considerably to finish in 4:06.88.
New Zealand’s first ever world championship swimming gold medallist, Erika Fairweather, took out the third heat and qualified fastest for the final with a 4:06.42.
Fairweather finished third in the race of the century in 2023 behind Ariarne Titmus and the great Katie Ledecky.
Summer McIntosh finished fourth in that event, but now holds the world record.
Unfortunately though, she won’t be competing in Glasgow.
Forrester was third-fastest and Amelia Weber was fourth-fastest, making it three Aussies in the top four.
