Who are we watching in these early matches?

We’re moments away from the first suite of matches kicking off, and there are few big clashes to kick us off in the women’s draw.
Emma Raducanu is facing Anna Anisimova on Kia Arena while ninth seed Daria Kasatkina plays Yafan Wang.
Not long after that second seed Iga Swiatek is in action against Rebecca Sramkova, in what will be the only match played on Rod Laver Arena before Alex de Minaur’s big one against Tristan Boyer.
We’ll be keeping across as much of it as our eyeballs and fingers will allow us.

‘Angry’ Kokkinakis rues injury in defeat

Last night was a tough one to swallow for Thanasi Kokkinakis. Having taken Jack Draper all the way in a rollicking five-setter, he was left cursing the return of a pectoral injury, which he says could threaten his career.
“Even if I won, I wouldn’t have been able to play the next match. I’m annoyed. I still had a chance to win,” Kokkinakis told reporters following his Australian Open exit.
“Yeah, I’m angry.”
“I’ve tried to sort it out for years manually, without surgery, just trying to do what I can. It’s the reason why I can’t back up big matches.”

Welcome to day five of the Australian Open

G’day, and welcome back to sunny Melbourne Park for the fifth day of the 2025 Australian Open. The second round continues in the singles draw and we will have four Aussies in action today, headlined by Alex de Minaur on Rod Laver Arena this afternoon.
Plenty of other big names are in action throughout the day too, and we will be live for all of it to keep you up to date with everything you need to know. Stick around, it should be a good one.
