Langford answers back for the Dees!
Langford marks on the lead right on the 50m arc.
He stops and assesses his options, then decides to just play on, wheel around and launch a monster from outside 50!
He’s celebrating almost as soon as it comes off the slipper!

Jordan Croft gets us going in the third
A big goal to start the third term and it’s Jones and Naughton who combine again to create some magic at half forward.
The share the pill back and forth and break through the Demons defence, with Naughton hitting Croft on the chest on the lead.
Croft converts and that’s a big start for the Dogs.

HT: Western Bulldogs 8.3 (51) lead Melbourne 6.7 (43)

Where in the world did those three goals come from?
With two minutes to go the Bulldogs seemed to have full control of this match, and then the Demons went bang, bang, bang to drag the margin back to a single figure.
The Dogs would be absolutely kicking themselves, particularly after they had won a free kick in front of goal that would have solidified their lead, but instead was overturned after Joel Freijah rubbed the head of Daniel Turner in a taunting manner.
Bontempelli and Richards have been huge for the Bulldogs, but Max Gawn is looming large for the Demons.
Huge half ahead.

Another one for the Demons!
They’re straight out of the middle after the Gawn goal and the pill finds Harvey Langford in the forward pocket.
Langford kicks an absolute stinker off his left but it tumbles through for the goal!
Back to 14 points! Where has this come from?

Gawn kicks a ripper on the edge of halftime
The big ruckman roves it like a little fella in the forward pocket and just throws it on the boot.
It floats and spins and dip and dives and it’s a major!
It’s back to 20 points!

Injury news for Collingwood
It’s what we suspected unfortunately, Jamie Elliott has been ruled out for the season with an ACL and bone bruising in the knee.
“We are all incredibly disappointed for Jamie,” general manager of football Charlie Gardiner says.
“Scans this morning confirmed that he has ruptured his ACL and has also sustained some bone bruising in the knee.
“Jamie has endured a number of significant injury setbacks across his career and for him to face this latest setback is unfortunate for him and his family and for us as a Club. He’s a much loved and respected leader at our Club and we’re all feeling for him.
“We will miss his on-field presence this year but he will no doubt continue to play an important role across the Club during his recovery.”

Petty gets one back for the Demons
There’s a clear grab on Petty by O’Donnell as the pair run back towards the square, and the umpire sees it.
Petty kicks the goal and that’s one they desperately needed.
Sun 24 May 2026 at 4:13pm
Richards has his second!
The star midfielder is wide open at the edge of the F50 and he unloads a beauty from long range!
Trouble for the Demons, it’s an early 33-point deficit.
Sun 24 May 2026 at 4:11pm
Jones has another!
This time he gets on the end of a little Bontempelli pass inside 50.
He marks, and kicks truly, then goes to one knee and celebrates with the kangaroo ears!

WHAT A GOAL DOGGIES!
It’s a belter of a team goal from the Dogs!
Aaron Naughton is in a two on one running into the 50, collects the ball, breaks a tackle beautifully, and finds Arty Jones with the handball.
He’s in a difficult spot, but dances around his Demons opponent and snaps a long, high beauty of a kick!
He starts dancing at the crowd, stops, waits for the goal umpire, and then finishes his dance once the major is confirmed.
Huge goal for the Doggies!

Tholstrup goals from the 50m penalty
The young Dee makes the intercept mark in the middle of the ground and then has the ball knocked out of his hands by West.
It’s a soft nudge of the ball but it’s there, and it hands Tholstrup the shot directly in front about 25m out.
He converts and brings it back to 8 points.
Sun 24 May 2026 at 3:59pm

QT: Western Bulldogs 3.1 (19) lead Melbourne 1.3 (9)

Look I’m not going to lie I’m still buzzing from the previous game and this one has been dour in comparison. It was even pushed back three minutes due to how many goals were kicked in Sydney.
That’s not to say it’s been a bad game at all, because the scrappiness has kept it tight with the Doggies being cleaner with the Sherrin in front of goal.
Bailey Dale leads the way for disposals with 11 while Ed Richards looks as dangerous as ever. For the Demons, Jake Bowey has found the ball the most but did appear to have some sort of issue with his teeth late in that quarter.
We’ll keep an eye on that.

Demons get their first
The Demons answer another Bulldogs goal (Will Lewis) with their first, as Bailey Laurie swoops on the loose pill and drills it through.
They needed that one desperately.
