Jordan Dawson extends Adelaide’s lead to start the second half

By Andrew McGarry

We’re underway again at Docklands, and it’s been an interesting couple of minutes.

The Bulldogs have been attacking, but both sides have been guilty of poor kicking, with intercept marks aplenty.

But the Crows have manged the ball better, and they went long to the square where Jordan Dawson received  free for a push from Lachie Bramble.

The Crows skipper steers it through, and Adelaide leads by four goals now. The Bulldogs need to respond – and soon.

Crows doing better with inside 50s

By Andrew McGarry

A sign of the game that’s in it – the Crows lead inside 50s 30-24, but more important is the marks inside 50 stats.

The visitors have taken 13 grabs inside the arc, compared to just five for the Bulldogs.

The big trio of Taylor Walker, Darcy Fogarty and Riley Thilthorpe are making hay. But for the Bulldogs, they will hope that Sam Darcy can make a big impact in the second half, particularly in the absence of Jordan Butts in Adelaide’s back six.

HT: Adelaide 10.4 (64) leads Western Bulldogs 7.3 (45)

By Andrew McGarry

A late soccer off the ground brings a behind to Joel Freijah, and that’s all the scoring for the Bulldogs.

But there was still time for the Crows to break down the left wing, and the ball went long to the pocket where Riley Thilthorpe was too strong and well placed for Rory Lobb.

He marked and then snapped around the corner. Goal (his fourth in the quarter)!

The siren sounded a couple of seconds later, and Adelaide will be happy with their work – they go in with a 19-point lead.

This is not over by a long chalk, but it’s going to be a tough task stopping Thilthorpe – it might need a huge goal haul at the other end from Aaron Naughton.

Stick with us to find out which way it goes.

Adelaide uses the sub

By Andrew McGarry

Confirmation that Jordan Butts cannot continue. He went off the ground at the quarter-time break, and he has been subbed out with a chest injury.

On comes the Crows sub Chayce Jones.

They were in D50 but Jake Soligo chipped a centimetre-perfect kick to Alex neal-Bullen, who found Taylor Walker near 50.

Tex whirled and kicked long to the square to Riley Thilthorpe, who kicked the goal.

It’s back out to 14 points.

Did we say shootout?

The Dogs went forward again and Richards was on the end of it – he kicked from the left forward pocket and suddenly the lead is back to seven points again!

We seem to have been going an age in the second quarter, but there are still 14 minutes-plus to go to half-time!

Ed Richards gets a vital goal for the Bulldogs

By Andrew McGarry

That wasn’t pretty, but it was effective!

The Bulldogs got the ball inside 50 for the first time in a while, and with pressure on they found a way to shift it around before a handball through traffic found Ed Richards, who snapped a ball that nearly hit the roof.

It carried JUST long enough to go over the line.

Vital goal for the Dogs.

Where is this coming from?

The Crows are on a tear right now, and they hit up Thilthorpe again. He kicks from 50, and it goes straight between the sticks!

Jordan Dawson kicks a long bomb for Adelaide

By Andrew McGarry

The Crows skipper Jordan Dawson has been in and around the play in the first quarter, although he got his nose smashed at one point in a contest.

He’s coming into the game more now, and he picked up two touches in 30 seconds – the second one was the more important, as he swivelled and crushed a left-foot shot from 55.

Great goal for the Crows.

QT: Adelaide 4.2 (26) leads Western Bulldogs 3.1 (19)

By Andrew McGarry

The siren sounds, and the Crows have another of their winning first quarters, taking a seven-point lead into the first break.

The Bulldogs looked like they could run away with it early, with Aaron Naughton booting three early goals.

But the Crows have steadied, and Isaac Cumming’s assists and goal have helped the visitors get the ascendancy.

Sam Darcy has been well held early, interesting to see if Adelaide can keep him in check.

It must be loud at Docklands

By Andrew McGarry

The poor umpire is going hoarse, yelling “Play on!” and players are not hearing him. There have been a few rundowns already, and there’ll be a few more if this keeps up.

Crows extend their lead

By Andrew McGarry

The Crows are finding their marks in attack.

A minute ago, Taylor Walker took a mark on right side of 50, but inexplicably decided to kick across field and missed his target by miles.

Now they’ve done it again, hitting up Isaac Cumming who took a strong contested mark inside the arc (Crows seventh mark inside 50).

Cumming went back and kicked it perfectly, and the Crows lead by eight points with 5:42 on the clock.

Fogarty puts Crows back in front

By Andrew McGarry

The pressure is leading to a lot of errors and turnovers, and the Crows took advantage there.

There were fumbles from both sides, but Adelaide broke free and Isaac Cumming hit Ben Keays, who then switched it up to Darcy Fogarty on left side of 50.

Fogarty kicks his second, and the Crows lead by a point!

Naughton has three for the quarter

By Andrew McGarry

Loading Twitter content

This is a ripping start to the match, and the Bulldogs’ delivery is improving rapidly!

They took their time there, waiting for a lead and finally hitting up Naughton again inside 50.

He darted forward to take the grab – and kicked straight for his third of the quarter! He’s on for a bag and a bit here.

Bulldogs lead by a kick.
