65′ TRY: Luke Laulilii scores for the Tigers

By Michael Doyle

Tigers winger Luke Laulilii has finished off a nice passage of play to score in the left corner.

The visitors had a full set at the Melbourne goal-line, and the try was well worked.

Wests worked the ball to the right, then shifted to the left and established an overlap.

A nice cut-out pass to Laulilii sealed the score.

Jock Madden converts from the touchline.

62′ Storm miss out on another try

By Michael Doyle

Melbourne could have had a seventh try.

A big line break from Joe Chan down the right has the Tigers back-pedalling.

The Storm needs to go to the left. Harry Grant runs straight and is tackled, but he gets an offload away.

Trent Loiero then goes for the line, and he is stopped. Change-over.

There were a few hands thrown in the air from Melbourne players who were unmarked on the left flank.

Trent Loiero is back on the field

By Michael Doyle

A few posts ago, I replied to a comment from Sam who asked about Trent Loiero.

About 30 seconds after publishing the blog post saying Loiero had not returned to the field, the Melbourne lock ran onto the field.

54′ TRY: Will Warbrick has a double for the Storm

By Michael Doyle

Lovely play from Melbourne.

Attacking the Wests goal-line, Melbourne kept the ball alive with several offloads, and that sucked Tigers players into the middle of the field.

Captain Harry Grant then kicks for the right corner, and Will Warbrick jumps up and catches the ball for the try.

52′ Kai Pearce-Paul on report

By Michael Doyle

Wests forward Kai Pearce-Paul has been put on report.

He was holding the arm of a Storm player on the ground, and when Kai went to run back in defence, he continued to hold the arm.

The arm of the Melbourne player was twisted a little, before Kai let go.

Any news on Trent Loiero?

By Michael Doyle

Hey mike- any update on trent leoiro?

– Sam

G’day Sam.

For those who missed it, Trent Loiero went off after copping a forearm to the throat while making a tackle.

ABC Sport’s sideline eye Ian Cohen reported Loiero was cleared of a HIA and is sitting on the bench.

But he has not returned to the match, as of yet.

49′ Storm lose their challenge

By Michael Doyle

Melbourne’s Jack Howarth has lost the ball in a tackle.

It was tackle one, less than 20 metres from the Wests’ goal-line.

Howarth convinces captain Harry Grant to challenge.

The Storm centre believes there was a hand that stripped the ball out.

There certainly was a Tiger hand on the ball, but the Bunker has ruled it a loose carry from Howarth.

37′ NO TRY: Tigers deny Melbourne’s Will Warbrick

By Michael Doyle

Melbourne winger Will Warbrick has gone close to scoring in the right corner.

Three Tigers are trying to either hold him up, or push him into touch.

But Warbrick is claiming the try.

Ref Adam Gee sends the decision to the Bunker as a no try.

The first angle shows the footy hit the ground, but the second angle shows that was short of the goal-line.

Now the Bunker needs to see if Warbrick is able to get the footy down when he eventually crosses the line.

The Tigers hold him up, and eventually, Warbrick’s leg went into touch.

36′ Big melee in the middle of the field.

By Michael Doyle

There is a big push and shove in the middle of the field.

Harry Grant took a run, and he was slammed into the ground Tigers player Latu Fainu. It was very close to a head slam.

The Storm did not like this, and Melbourne’s Davvy Moale came from a long way to be part of the melee.

It is a Melbourne penalty and Fainu is on report.

34′ TRY: Harry Grant scores for the Storm

By Michael Doyle

Melbourne has a fifth try.

Harry Grant burrows from dummy-half and gets the ball on the line.

After defending their line just a few minutes ago, the Storm were able to march down the field. aided by a six-again restart.

Melbourne forced a goal-line dropout, earning another set at the Tigers’ goal-line.

That set was all the Storm, and their captain, needed to establish a 22-point lead.

30′ Melbourne hold on as Tigers find their groove

By Michael Doyle

This is more like the Wests Tigers we have grown accustomed to this season.

A big line break down the right flank allowed them to enter the Melbourne defensive 20.

A six-again restart gave Wests a full set at the goal-line.

The Tigers went close to scoring on a couple of plays, but the defence of the Storm scrambled well and did not cave in.
