Live: Tigers beat Titans with last-minute field goal at Leichhardt

The Tigers had a rotten set to get in position, with Jarome Luai almost breaking through for the game-winning try, but ultimately the pass comes back to Adam Doueihi to pot his first career field goal and win it for the Tigers.

The Broncos get within four points of the Roosters but can’t complete the comeback as Destiny Brill is called for a roll ball in their last set.

Taylan May makes two great charges and Jarome Luai grubbers in behind on the back of it. AJ Brimson appears to have it covered but he fumbles into the hands of Jeral Skelton, who dives over.

But referee Belinda Sharpe rightly rules a double knock-on as May got a hand to it after Brimson’s knock-on.

After trailing 24-10 at half-time, the Broncos have scored two second-half tries and trail just 24-22 heading into the final 10 minutes.

The bomb goes up and Staines catches on his 10m line, but he beats three tacklers and makes it up near the halfway line.

A hell of a recovery to his shocking start to this game, and this half in particular.

“[Defenders] should be able to get out of marker or get out of that tight defence and tackle the kicker above the waist.

“I just think it’s gone way too far.”

Alex Seyfarth fumbles a grubber to give the Titans another set on the Tigers’ line, but it’s wasted as Brian Kelly gives the ball to a flat-footed Beau Fermor on a well-populated blindside, and he’s immediately monstered into touch.

Oh, it’s a disastrous start as the kick-off gets a late gust behind it and Charlie Staines’s chest mark turns into an above-the-head effort that he knocks on.
