The Titans host a Panthers side missing their Origin stars after the Dolphins beat the Tigers 36-22 despite missing halfback Isaiya Katoa and Maroons players Selwyn Cobbo, Hamiso Tabuai-Fidow, Max Plath and Tom Flegler.

Later, the Bulldogs take on Manly at Stadium Australia.

Meanwhile, after months of speculation and years of close calls, North Queensland has officially re-signed coach Todd Payten through the 2028 NRL season.

On Friday night, Newcastle back rower Asu Kepaoa was sent off during a NSW Cup game for an alleged homophobic slur, with the match review committee to review the incident on Monday.

Injury: Jensen Taumoepeau

By Nick Campton

Taumoepeau loses the ball in contest with Jenkins and the ball goes dead for a drop out. It’s a double blow for the winger, who’s suffered a suspected dislocated ankle on landing.

There’s a lengthy delay as the medi-cab comes out.

Fermor goes to right centre with Fifita moving out to right wing.

70′ Harrison doubles up as GC take lead

By Nick Campton

A set restart puts the Titans on the attack and on the last Harrison goes down the short-side and fires a bullet pass to Sami who goes over in the corner!

Two outstanding passes from the rookie and the Titans, after all that defence, have taken the lead!

Can Campbell push the lead to six….you better believe it! Titans 18-12.

68′ Sami goes from villain to hero

By Nick Campton

Edwards bobbles a Harrison kick but Sami gets pinged for offside, that’s a big let-off.

But Gold Coast hold the line again and Sami redeems himself with an excellent take against Alamoti.

55′ Hau takes it home to level the scores

By Nick Campton

An Alamoti error off a bomb gives the Titans a full set, inside their 20. Can they build on all that strong defence?

A set restart gives them the chance to build some pressure and then Harrison hits Hau with a short ball, the big man crashes over!

A very well-earned try for the home side. Campbell converts and we’re level at 12-all.

57′ Ball beats Henry

By Nick Campton

Tago clips Sami try and that’ll be easy passage for the Gold Coast out of their own end. Ref also wants a look at a hip drop in the same tackle from Cogger and he’s on report.

Phillips forces an error from Harrison, great work to push from the inside. Cole kicks for Henry but it goes dead.

53′ Titans do it again

By Nick Campton

Fermor loses it on the ensuing set, they just can’t afford to keep handing Penrith all these chances.

Talagi rolls a kick through, there’s nobody there but Panthers but it takes a big bounce, Garner taps it back and Fifita cleans it up. Ref says he’s trapped in goal, Titans will challenge.

I think he got out but the call will stand. Titans drop out.

But they hold on again, wrapping up Papali’i on the last.

50′ Panthers can’t crack Titans

By Nick Campton

Titans give away a set restart but Papali’i drops it cold – that forces it to a full penalty. God, it’s such a dumb rule. Anyway, Penrith now on the attack.

Lussick forces a drop out with a grubber, then Edwards does the same after he kicks early for Tago.

End of the next set the Panthers try and go high to Jenkins and he loses it on the contest. Gold Coast ball.

46′ Titans can’t strike

By Nick Campton

Campbell hits Tago right under the ball and forces an error, Titans on the attack.

Hau busts through! He’s dragged down just short. Gold Coast are looking really likely but then Morrin loses as he tries to pull through from close range, good tackle from Cogger.

Second half is underway

Hey everyone, my name is Nick and I’m tagging in for Jon for the rest of the evening.

Titans kick us off, running right to left.

HALF-TIME: Panthers lead Titans 12-6

By Jon Healy

(Getty)

It’s been an almighty defensive effort from the Titans to stay in this one with only 41 per cent of possession and absolutely none of the territory.

An uncharacteristically sloppy Penrith hasn’t been able to ice many of the chances, but stand-in captain Dylan Edwards says he hopes they can reap the rewards in the second 40 minutes.

“We spent a bit of time down there, put a bit of work into them so that should pay us back,” he tells Fox.

37′ Penrith loses its challenge dubiously

By Jon Healy

The high kick goes across field and the Panthers come up with it, with Isaiah Papali’i trying to break down the left.

He’s reeled in by Jojo Fifita and is destined for the sideline when Jensen Taumoepeau illegally takes out Tom Jenkins back in field.

On-field referee Peter Gough calls for the scrum, but Dylan Edwards calls for a challenge.

No doubt Jenkins is taken out, but bunker official Ashley Klein says the challenge is unsuccessful because Papali’i wasn’t looking at Jenkins and therefore had no plan to make him part of the play.

Gee, I don’t know about that. He was still taken out and who’s to say Papali’i couldn’t have manufactured a lob over the top?

35′ WHAT A TAKE! WHAT A TRY-SAVER!!

By Jon Healy

Jojo Fifita flies over Luke Garner for a phenomenal grab very reminiscent of his effort in State of Origin II over Brian To’o, but this time Tom Jenkins arrives at the last second to knock the ball out before he can ground it.

34′ The most telling stat

By Jon Healy

If you want to know how impressive this effort has been from the Titans, Penrith has had 32 tackles inside their 20m zone. The Tians have had zero at the other end.

30′ So much pressure from Penrith

By Jon Healy

The Titans held the Panthers out again as Jojo Fifita forced the Luke Garner error and regathered, but the ensuing set doesn’t go beyond the 40m line.

The kick is fielded by Dylan Edwards on his 20m line on the full and he gets back to his 40m with the kick return.

This has been an amazing defensive effort from the Titan-Chargers, but if they don’t break before half-time, the fatigue will surely catch up in the dying minutes.

29′ Penrith held up again

By Jon Healy

The Gold Coast defence has been so impressive, but the errors with ball in hand are just creating so much pressure.

Surely they have to break soon.

Sat 20 Jun 2026 at 6:02pm

26′ Just perfect from Penrith

By Jon Healy

The Penrith kick is innocuous and Keano Kini takes an easy mark, but Paul Alamoti catches him and immediately and the cavalry arrives to help drag him into touch.

The Panthers do that so well, so much better than anyone else. Any time you’re within 10 metres of the sideline, you’re in trouble.

Morrin tears the Panthers open!

By Jon Healy

Straight off the back of Izack Tago’s dropped ball, bench livewire Kurtis  Morrin storms onto a ball and bursts between Moses Leota and Scott Sorensen to score.

20′ Pain for Panthers

By Jon Healy

Moses Leota was down earlier and I wasn’t sure why. I am now.

Mick Ennis said Moses Leota’s “hip” caught Liam Henry in the head. (Supplied: Kayo)

Leota got back up and kept playing. Liam Henry is off for an HIA.

18′ Penrith rolling through the middle

By Jon Healy

The Titans already look exhausted as the Panthers power through the middle, even without using their forwards once in that set.

Izack Tago comes down with a catch on the last and tries to flick the pass back, but the Titans get lucky as it hit Phil Sami and goes backwards.
