Live: Warbrick aerial show gets Storm a win in Munster’s milestone match

The Roosters kick off and Tom Hazelton runs it back for Cronulla.

But the play has been made and 14-4 looks and feels very different to 14-0 at half-time in this one.

The ball goes left to Ronaldo Mulitalo to score a great try diving into the corner.

James Tedesco flies across in cover and takes an awkward tumble, and it looks like he’s accidentally had a head clash or hit Mulitalo with an elbow.

We love a trick play here at ABC Sport and this time it’s an NFL-style onside kick, scuffed low and out to the right, perfectly on the bounce to Nicho Hynes.

The Sharks can’t do anything with it, but you still love to see it.

The Sharks just can’t wrap up the Roosters’ big bodies and it’s costing them. This time Mark Nawaqanitawase swoops on a loose ball out the back and surprises them with a late offload to Connor Watson, who scoots through the line and finds Sam Walker. The halfback could get low and score, but instead he passes to Billy Smith for a try and what should be an easier conversion for Walker.

The Roosters lead the offload count 13-4 and lead the game 14-0 as Walker converts the try.

The high kick goes across towards the Nawaqanitawase-Mulitalo battle.

Mulitalo manages to get hands to hit and bat it backwards, but it bounce up past Braydon Trindall and into the hands of Rob Toia.

Did Nawaqanitawase get a hand to it in the air? Perhaps, but I don’t think any of the angles will be able to prove that conclusively.

The Roosters spin it right and Mark Nawaqanitawase catches on his knees before regaining his footing and getting rocked by KL Iro and Ronaldo Mulitalo.

Mulitalo is penalised for some work on the face of Nawawqanitawase, but that was really soft.

This game has been really end to end with not many stoppages, so I think they’re both feeling it a bit.

The attack is looking sloppy and both teams have a few blokes sucking in the big ones.

Reece Robson gets the ball from a quick play-the-ball by Naufahu Whyte, zips out and finds James Tedesco on his hip. Tedesco hits Lindsay Collins flat and he pokes and spins through the line, passing to Daly Cherry-Evans. He flings an offload over his shoulder to Tedesco, who immediately passes back inside to Collins to go the last 24 metres to score.

Unlike Wednesday night, Walker can’t convert Collins’s try.

The Roosters go left, with James Tedesco offloading to Rob Toia, who hits Nawaqanitawase out wide.

He shimmies and shakes to sneak down the right, but he steps on the sideline in the tackle of Braydon Trindall. And the replays show his shoelaces on his right boot were untied.

Imagine if he stepped inside the field of play but one of his laces hit the touchline. That’s got to be out, right?

On the last, Daly Cherry-Evans drills a low kick for a potential 40/20 so Will Kennedy has to play at it, but he gets himself into trouble trying to pick up a half volley and he knocks it on.

What can the Roosters do with some field position?

Both teams are just getting through their work right now.

No-one really firing a shot yet. You have to credit the defence for not allowing anything in good field position.

And Naufahu Whyte is almost dumped into touch straight away.

After a big week as State of Origin captain and then into this milestone 250th match, Cameron Munster says he’s a bit tired of all the fuss.

“I’m just glad we got the win. Just another game,” he tells ABC Sport.

Munster credits the club and his wife Bianca for organising the event and having his kids out there with him.

“Family’s everything for us as a club, it’s a special moment. It’s been a big week, emotionally everyone’s made it about me. Just happy to put it behind me.

“I’m done. I’m all media’d out and all footy’d out.”

The Raiders’ kick-off doesn’t go 10 metres and they’re penalised for touching the ball. Stefano Utoikamanu and Hudson Young have a bit of a chat and Harry Grant tries to play peacemaker. But Young flings the ball at Stef from behind and Cameron Munster gets involved as it all kicks off.

But ultimately, the Storm reject the penalty in the dead centre of the field and are happy to just bank the two points and a healthy for-and-against boost.

It really could have been a different night if not for Will Warbrick. The Warriors-bound winger has had a rough year so far, but he was immaculate tonight, catching everything over the top of Savelio Tamale, grabbing three tries and getting his team a slew of repeat sets in the red zone.

“It’s nice. I try to put a bit of effort into areas of my game and sometimes fortunate to get a bit of reward for it,” Warbrick tells ABC Sport.

“I was trying to get myself in the picture and the contest and just attacking. That’s what the big man [coach Craig Bellamy] wants from me.”

Ethan Sanders fumbles a poor pass from Joe Tapine and it falls right in front of Trent Toelau to swoop and score.

The kick goes up just next to the posts and Daine Laurie outleaps Cameron Munster, but he just grounds the ball short of the line.

I saw Trent Toelau on the park and assumed Craig Bellamy had given Harry Grant an early mark, but no, he’s still hobbling around out there. Jahrome Hughes has come off with a few minutes left.
