On Tuesday, we reported on some of the remarks made by Democrat Rep. Jasmine Crockett (TX-30) at the House Oversight hearing concerning the Smithsonian.
In a bizarre statement, Crockett appeared to argue that most people in the world were rooting for Spain in the World Cup final because of the supposed “racist history” of Argentina.

This seemed remarkably silly, and even the witness she was questioning shot that down, saying he thought they were rooting for Spain because it was the better team. No, most of the world is not looking through a racial lens like Crockett at the World Cup.
Now, that also seemed like a strange argument to make if she wants to freak out about “colonizers,” as Spain did a heck of a lot of “colonizing” in the Americas.

But she wasn’t quite done with the topic. She also had this winner of a statement, which she must have thought highly of, since she posted it herself.
“It’s racist,” she declared. “It’s just racist, racist, racist.”
This administration keeps trying to play in our face.

“Let me be clear. The people that were here are the indigenous folk. And you know who ICE has been rounding up? They’ve been rounding up indigenous people. The people that originally came. Not the colonizers! But the original people. So what this is about is whiteness!”
Okay, I’m officially confused as I try to sort that out. Everyone’s ancestors came from somewhere else, even the “Native Americans.” But if anyone is “indigenous” for being here the longest, I guess it would be them. I don’t think ICE is rounding them up. Where would they be deported to? So who is she even talking about here?
If she’s talking about people who come from south of the border, they are not “indigenous” to this country. And this comment about “colonizers” is silly too – who is she suggesting is a “colonizer” now? And anyone coming from south of the border might indeed be descended from the Spanish – which, by her logic, would probably make them ‘colonizers,” even though she seems to be confused about that.
Finally, being “white” doesn’t make you a “colonizer,” if she’s suggesting that. No one alive today was involved in any “colonizing” of this country.

Moreover, most of the world involved people going from one place to another and “colonizing.” Does that make everyone descended from all the world evil? You see how this logic tends to fall into absurdity. But it’s a favorite term of the left.
As a member of Congress, she should care about the borders and enforcing immigration law. That’s what her job is supposed to be; that’s what she’s supposed to care about. But instead she spews this divisive invective. When she wonders why she’s no longer going to be in Congress after this term, this might be one of the reasons why.
