“Ivan” for Borderland Beat

A Court of Appeals denied Rosalinda Gonzalez Valencia, wife of Jalisco Cartel – New Generation leader Nemesio Oseguera, an injunction against justified preventive detention.

Rosalinda González Valencia, wife of the leader of the Jalisco Cartel – New Generation (CJNG), Michoacan national Nemesio Oseguera Cervantes, alias “El Mencho”, will continue to be imprisoned in the federal women’s prison in Morelos, as a Collegiate Court denied her an injunction against justified preventive detention.

The court confirmed the decision of the Collegiate Court, issued last February, which denied the modification of the preventive measure of justified preventive detention issued to “La Jefa” in November 2021, after she was detained by the Army in Jalisco, after failing to comply with the conditional release issued in 2018.

Due to the fact that he suffers from a “terminal illness, which requires an immunosuppressive therapy that must be provided under conditions of total isolation in sterile areas and with constant surveillance”, the defense of González Valencia, headed by attorney Víctor Beltrán, asked a judge to change the precautionary measure, which was rejected, so he challenged the decision in court.

The Court of Appeals confirmed the refusal and declared the arguments of the wife of “El Mencho” unfounded, by pointing out that she was the one who brought about the modification of the precautionary measures she initially had when she was first arrested in 2018 and was allowed to carry out her trial at liberty for the crime of operations with resources of illicit origin (in the modalities of acquiring, concealing and transferring, within the national territory, resources of any nature, when she has knowledge that they come from an illicit activity), at liberty.
