It seems to be a big month for Baby Hitler! And no, for once this does not involve Maine’s Senatorial candidate, Der Oysterfuhrer himself, Graham Platner. But oddly, the be-diapered Nazi has been cropping up in recent weeks.

For one, we have an example involving the naming of the Panzer Pampers set, but more on that in a moment. First, we have a report out of New Jersey, where a middle school has been thrown into a furor over its yearbooks. It was discovered that somehow an image of Hitler as an infant had been included in the end-of-term keepsakes. How someone did not question a clearly antique black-and-white shot is the first question to ask.

But this has led to faculty meltdowns and scrambling to recover the cursed publications and have new, Nazi-free editions published. There is even talk of legal charges being filed if and when the perpetrator behind this inclusion of the Goebbels Baby is flushed from their spider hole.

That report serves as an entry to the heart of this feature. While there is no shortage of news items distributed that are hysterically rooted in slamming President Trump, we may have a sterling example of the Trump-Derangement affliction. While not an important report — at all — it stands as one that exemplifies this pathological need in the press to find any and every instance of reporting negatively on the president.

The algae bloom at the Reflecting Pool has been the preeminent example of this unhindered passion to overreport on the most mundane negativity. We have seen figures like Jonathan Karl, Matt Viser, and Jim Acosta reporting on location to deliver the same reports that every other news outlet has been delivering. But now we have one that is even less substantial.

The gang at Notus has some “Breaking” news: President Trump has caused the rate of babies being named “Donald” to be at an all-time low!!! (We hope you are recovering from this appropriately, as we failed to provide a WARNING for the arrival of this grave notification.) This report was so vital that it was later picked up by outlets like Yahoo! News and The Independent. At The Mirror UK, they claimed that President Trump has been “humiliated” by this development. No word from the White House has been provided to show this alleged humiliation, however. Just take their word for it.

What is clear regarding this reporting is that the barest of research went into things. The data was found with the Social Security Administration, based on the number of new applications. Yet while Notus looked at the historical popularity of the name “Donald,” it has been waning for generations. The name reached its peak popularity in the 1930s, and has been on a constant decline, falling out of the top-100 chosen names in 1990.

But there are more disqualifying details they failed to include. It turns out presidential-inspired naming is not a notable practice for parents of newborns. For evidence of this, we have to stretch all the way back to…the previous president. During his term, President Biden saw his moniker fall in popularity, from #20 in 2020 to #32 by his last year in office. As for the name Barack? That does not even crack the top-1,000 names in the Social Security database.

Despite this blatant non-controversy, over at MS NOW, Lawrence O’Donnell could not refrain from delivering his smug derangement over this tepid development. He filibustered gleefully over the numbers, delivering the data in his trademarked anesthesia-level monotone monologue. And then he took things to a wholly bizarre tangent.

Do you know what other leader inspired people to avoid using their name for their newly matriculated clump of cells? HITLER!

Yes…he seriously tried to find a way to suggest that the unpopularity of the name “Donald” places President Trump in the same class as Adolph Hitler.

“Adolph…dropped rather dramatically…in popularity…after Adolph Hitler executed six million Jewish people…in death camps…while he was losing World War 2…before he took his own life.”

The sheer desperation of all of this is almost entertaining. I am going to bother Larry here by doing something that frequently upsets the press, and that is to conduct research. Yes, the year after Hitler’s self-induced demise, there was a sharp decline in the use of “Adolph” for babies. But in the ensuing years, there were quite a few instances where there were upticks in the application of that name. So, in Larry’s warped interpretational mind, that could make Trump worse!

It is a marvel to see the way members of our media are willing to degrade themselves and their reputations by resorting to these acts of desperate criticism. To say that President Trump is humiliated at the refusal of many to name babies after him is — dare we say it? — rather infantile.
