On Saturday, July 13, 2024, I was packing to head to Milwaukee to serve as an alternate delegate for the great state of Missouri. I decided to take a dinner break. As I waited for a food order, my phone began blowing up. There had been an assassination attempt against President Donald Trump. Not much was known at that point, just that, thankfully, President Trump was alive and only mildly injured. I got my food and headed home and watched the events unfold over the rest of the evening.

Donald Trump was referring to a chart on illegal immigration under the Biden administration when gunshots were heard. Secret Service agents tackled Trump, who was grazed in the right ear by a bullet, to the ground. Just moments later, Trump stood up to let the crowd know he was okay, and pumped his fist in the air, saying “Fight, fight, fight!” The crowd began to chant, “USA, USA, USA!” Sadly, one rally attendee, firefighter Corey Comparatore, was killed, and two other men were injured. The gunman was later identified as Thomas Matthew Crooks, who had fired from a nearby rooftop.

As if this wasn’t frightening enough, just two months later, Secret Service agents arrested Ryan Routh after an agent spotted him with a rifle near the Trump International Golf Club in West Palm Beach, Florida. Routh was charged with attempted assassination of Trump. In April of this year, there was another failed attempt on Trump at the annual White House Correspondents’ Dinner. And very recently, Israeli intelligence shared with the U.S. a developing plot by Iran to kill Trump.

Earlier this month, a report from the Office of Inspector General revealed what we already knew: that the Secret Service “missed multiple opportunities” to prevent or disrupt the Butler attempt on Trump’s life. The report also stated,

“The Secret Service’s overall lack of policy and processes coupled with limited intelligence sharing and poor collaboration and communication with protectee staff and state and local law enforcement set the conditions that led to missing opportunities to prevent and detect the attempted assassination.”

As far as the Iranians go, Trump has left specific instructions on what to do should they be successful. But what about the home-grown wannabe assassins? After two years, we still have not learned a lot about Crooks. And it’s because we don’t know a lot about him and his motives that leads to Americans asking, did a pimply-faced 20-year-old kid really just wake up that morning and decide to kill the President?

We can expect threats from the Iranians, but the real threat is crazed, TDS-riddled leftists. From loners like Crooks and Routh looking for their 15 minutes of fame, all the way to former FBI director James Comey and his seashells by the seashore that magically spelled out “8647,” and his ridiculous claim that he had no idea what it meant. Maybe the person who etched it into the grass on the National Mall before the UFC match in June could let him in on its meaning, because they obviously know.

In July of 2025, the Secret Service put out a press release that laid out some improvements made over several different categories. But if Democrats lose badly in the 2026 midterm elections, it will enrage the left and make them even more crazed. With President Trump still having two years in his term, a new and improved Secret Service may be just as busy.
